Should I swap a squier 50s Telecaster for an Epiphone Thunderbird?

My friend bought a T-bird a few months ago. He's decided that he is more interested in guitar now (ikr) so he's offered me the epiphone for the tele. Should I go for it? Both guitars are in mint condition

UPDATE: He said he'd also give me the hardcase for it as well

Have you ever played a T-bird? Totally different animal. Try one out before you make any decision.

I've played a Tokai Thunderbird before. The tone's different to what I'm used to but I liked it

Yeah, the Tokai will also be completely different from the Epi. Personally, I'd stick with the Squier.

You are talking about the Squier bass and not guitar, right?

If it's the Classic Vibe tele, then it might be worth a fair bit more than the Epi. Is the T-bird the deluxe?

How much do you like the Squier, and have you tried the same 'Bird that you'd be buying?

It's probably one of the better Squier guitars out there, right? Demo the Bird, first...

I agree with the guys above. Think of your needs. If you see yourself playing bass more than the guitar, then try out the bird. If you like the tone, go for it.

As far as dollar value, I think the bolt on birds are worth a little less than the CV Tele and the neck-thru's are a little more, but it's close in either direction.

Personally, I had a MIM Fender tele and sold it after a few months. Every CV tele I've played so far has been worlds better in tone and fit and finish than the MIM. If it's a good tele, I'd keep it unless I was sure the tone and ergonomics of the T-bird would work for me. In my case neither do.

Good luck with your decision.

Since its the guitar, and you don't particularly play it, i would certainly trade it.
