Should I? Warwick rockbass

theres a really nice looking warwick rockbass corvette double buck on Zzounds for 450$!!! On most other sites they are still 700 to 800$ ? These are the new "better" looking ones and have the 2 humbucker passive MECs... Any experience or opinions?

I heard the passive basses are still not that great, but the active ones are awesome!

hmmm, really? youd think the opposite being that the double bucks are more elaborate and expensive? Could you explain because this really helps me decide! Thanks Jacob

I have a couple of "boutique" basses: a Modulus Graphite and a Mike Lull. I gig with my Rockbass Corvette (older one with 2 x J pu's)-- cuz it just plain sounds right for just about any style.

I had one of the new ones. Very nice basses. Very thin necks on them too, which is a major change up from the older model Rockbasses which were huge.

Zzounds and Same Day Music both have very low prices on some of the new Rock Basses. $375 for the active Corvette has me interested a bit.

I have an older Streamer. Baseball bat neck on it, but boy is it a solid instrument.

I am just now picking it up again after not playing it for a couple of years because my teacher has convinced me to go play fivers. I am an active bass kind of guy, so I don't love the tone. In short, if I could sell it to someone, I probably would.

If you are into passive basses though, they are great basses.

hmmmm.... very good feedback, It helps alot hearing from all of you since there arent many reviews about them yet, thanks! PS. Why is ZZounds selling them for half the price of other sites?

Just got the rb corvette not long ago and your right on the price, some having them for half what the others do. If the doublebucks are like mine, they are the 2009 models at the lower price, not the 2010, I'm thinking those are the ones you are seeing for 700$ or so.

Mines been a pretty decent bass, the neck is a little bigger than what I'm used to but the sound is definitely high output and clean. I think the double buck would be great.

I used to have a 5 string neck-thru Thumb.... Well sadly I had to sell it a few years ago for nowhere near what it was worth. With that said, I recently got a 5 string active Rockbass Corvette from Zzounds and am blown away with how close it actually is in terms of playability and sound. Now its not what my thumb was, but for $400 or w/e, its a steal.

edit. Mine is the 2010 model with the W headstock and Warwick bridge and all that.

I have a Rockbass J style. The only problem I have with it is I need to replace the nut. It's pretty sharp when I slide my hand down. Sure, I could just file it, but I think I'm just going to replace it. These basses have a lot of bang and boom in them. If you want a "lower price range" bass, I would at least check these out.

Just got Mrs F a Rockbass Streamer 5 for Xmas. She loves it. Never got a chance to play it myself yet b/c she ran off with it and sat in the corner playing happily for hours saying that she loves the tone. The fit and finish were pretty good, much better than I was expecting.

I have a Corvette Active 5 string and have been really happy with it. It looks great, has great tone, and is very lightweight compared to the German-made Warwicks since the body is made of alder. I played one of the German-made ones in GC once and was shocked at how heavy it was. The only problem I have had with it so far is a problem with dead spots on the pickup fader pot. I bought it new for $379, so it is a great bass for the money.

The passive Rockbasses always seem to sound very lifeless to me. I played the Rockbass $$ Corvette and was very unimpressed. Especially for the price.

I own and love my Rockbass Corvette, but it's the active model. Haven't played the $$ much but it is definitely worth putting an MEC preamp in...very solid basses.

I own a Rockbass Corvette 5 $$, and I'm really satisfied.

Sound it's not so brilliant (maybe due to 25K pots), but it's growly and me and my band mates love it.

I found it very playable and lightweight (my back thanks).

I think I will upgrade soon with an active electronic similar to German Warwick $$.
