By your logic, Fender should just make P-basses.

That's like asking "Should Fender just make Ps and Js?" ..... oh yeah .... they do....

Sterlings are popular Bongos are pretty popular too so I don't see why they would drop everything but Stingrays. Big Al?

I think MusicMan is doing quite well. The Bongo isn't the bass for everyone but it's been on the market for around 8 years and a lot of people are buying them.
As much as I love Stingrays it's on the bottom of the MusicMan line as far as features go.

Fender makes a bunch of basses other than Ps and Js.

But most of them are just variations on said Ps and Js.

Why limit themselves? It's not like they're losing out by building more than Stingrays.

If stingrays were the only thing making them money, maybe. But I think they'd get bored with that.

Is the intention here to fire up the ebmm forum like the 19mm sr5 thread did?

No, but this comes from the fact that I like a 4-band EQ and 6-strings, both of which are options not available on the Stingray.

At the risk of being labeled a zealot, I appreciate that EBMM is one of the very few companies that continues to innovate. Of course, having one of the top selling brands of strings (not just talking bass strings) really allows them to innovate a little more freely.

No. I like Sterlings better. Perhaps a Sterling with a Stingray neck would be nice too.

Why? Have you actually played the Bongo? Curious what your justification is.

I like the Bongo a lot more than I like the Stingray.

So, I disagree. For me, the Bongo's the best thing they've done.
