Show me your 1977 basses, please!

Lately, I've been intrigued by the idea of finding a bass from my birthyear, 1977.

All I know is, I'm not looking for a J or a P, but would be glad to ee other basses from that year; musicmasters, mustangs, other funky bits....

Show me!

if I were to buy another P or J, it'd have to be older than 1977

Hard to date exactly but it's about a 76 or 77 Kingston:

You were just the one willing to pay the most. That doesn't sound like winning to me.

Yep. Heavy as hell, neck-divey, nard-shriveling aluminium frostiness, and a really unique sound.

Have a listen. That's slide bass tracked over drums 'n bass. Both tracks feature the Bean.

Having a problem loading up the pic of my '77 Kramer 650B Artist bass. I think its prettier then the Travis Bean and overall more functional, even though they both were given birth by Gary Kramer. I'll try and post a pic later. (Pic issue is this computer and connection, a day job network that filters out anything ending in an image format.)

Heresy!

That Bean was toilet seat white originally. The case fur turned it pink within a few years, so eventually I stripped it.

I'd never even consider owning either one as a fretted instrument, honestly. But then, I never really consider any other basses with frets anyway...

As you know Windy, there is always this split in our lumie religion. But lets face it, even in white the TBs just always looked a little, well, unfinished. My 650B is clearly a work of art. German routs. MoP inlays on the finger board. Ebonol fingerboard. Kramer engraved pickup covers. Matching golden speed knobs. And Schaller chrome tuners. Well, my Kramer is like a Victoria Secret model of the aluminum neck world.

Heresy? I'm not so sure. But don't get me wrong, I'd love to have a TB in my collection for sure. But she'd be the ugly step sister.....

I don't do bolt-on instruments, so Kramers were a non starter for me. The resale prices for the two brands are pretty telling, I think.

I'd love to hear some clips of your Kramer though. I've heard 'em sound really great, no doubt.

Greco's attempt at Alembic, 1977 GOB 1200.

They are selling on Japan Yahoo
for about 40,000~80,000 Yen which is about $480~970 at current conversion rate.
Add about $120 shipping and $50~$90 customs fee for a total.

Here's one now: http://page8.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/h148621612

NOTE: these are HEAVY so a wide strap is mandatory.
