That body shape reminds me of a microfrets design, but the pickups are screaming Teisco. Either way, a pretty cool bass in my book.

Since these are Schaller's and they are identical to DiMarzio's that would be my guess. There isn't a dramatic tone shift when you pull them up, they just get a little softer in volume.
The bass is so lo-mid heavy already. Add in the grunt of the graphite - you won't get that airy sparkle up top. I really like this bass alot. It sounds very muscular. Mine needs a lighter touch though - with no truss rod it has a slight bow developed over the years so the action requires a minimum height. I was able to get it pretty decent with some fret work, and I still gig it.

So one pot swtches the P between series/parallel and one pot switches the J the same way. i.e. You can have the P in parallel and the J in series.

I made a thread that has been ignored and saw this one so figured I'd give it a shot. Everyone I've asked has even stumped. Google has been useless. Please help me figure it out. The neck plate was stamped 'JAPAN' and there are markings on the head pictured below.
Here it is when I got it. I have it fully disassembled and have cleaned all te gold spray paiy from the hardware and polished it and it looks great!
And last night I started stripping the headstock and these are the markings that were under the paint.
Anyone have any idea?? The mystery is killing me. I wanna know if I struck gold or not. | Hey RickRocks------I took a copy of your mystery bass pictures and posted them on gtr/bass forums in US, UK and Germany---and here on TB again also I think-- a couple of weeks ago to see if anyone recognizes it for you. Nobody can give an answer about the headstock diamonds logo at all. I also sent it to Elderly Music, Ed Roman and a couple others ------the best anyone can say is just a no-name Japanese cheap -o copy of maybe a Gibson. It really haunts me because I HAVE seen those dang diamonds before but just cannot pull it out of the memory bank. Sorry..I tried.

Here's my late 60's Aria... kinda funny how I got this one...
I have a step brother who grew up with his Dad, we hardly ever saw him. I ended up moving to the same city as him and he called me to ask if I wanted a free guitar that he had been keeping under his bed since the early 70's! Obvious anser was a resounding yes! He was moving to a smaller space and needed to get rid of some stuff, so upon my arrival to his place, he ask me if I want the amp that he had for the "guitar". Of course I do!
So that wonderful day, I got the Aria, which had original flatwounds on it as well as a Traynor YBA-1 and the Traynor 2x15 cab that he had.
It was a good day! I had to have the Aria looked at as somehow, the nut was a mess, and I would bet that it had never seen a set up in it's entire life!
