My Warwick-Rockbass Alien 6 hasn't arrived yet, but tentatively scheduled for delivery March 2013...

BrandenSteele 01-04-2013 06:23 PM

I have been looking for the 6 string Warwick acoustic bass for a while! How much is it? Can you tell me how loud it is when you get it?:)

Washburn AB20 and a KAB

The Washburn wasn't loud enough for acoustic sessions so I made the Kick Ass'd Bass.

I ordered mine from Bass Alien. Their price was $999 but during November, there was a 15% sale, bringing my price down to $765.

If you check the Warwick channel on YouTube, look for a few demonstrations by Andy Irvine. He did demos both plugged in and acoustically, although his tests were with the 5-string model. He tested both the Warwick and Rockbass models.

My Martin BC40--not the loudest ABG I've played, but beautifully made and good sounding.

Would love to hear the KAB. It doesn't look too comfortable though. Or perhaps I should phrase it... ergonomically pleasing?

KAB comfort

I play it sitting down but have played standing with it on the arm of a chair. I sit with my left leg in the drum.

It's not too uncomfortable to sit with it propped against my left knee.

Wow; that's one of the coolest things I've seen in a long time! A bass essentially made from a bass drum.

Right: Gremlin, bought in 2003. Strung with GHS Phosphor Bronze.

Wow, that's impressive. What kind of tone do you get out of the Kick Ass Bass? Does it sound like it looks, -- meaning sort of bass-banjo-like? Is it loud enough to compete with 3 drunk guitar players and a fiddle? You may be on to something there... =))

Ibanez AEB5E.

Plays and sounds great. :) Currently my only playable bass!
