In which case I'll have to post Sheldon Dingwall's F-hole as found on the Afterburner 2 model:

The classic F-hole on an Epiphone Rivoli, played here by Mr. Chas Chandler. |

I'd LOVE to see a bass like this.

The strange thing is that the Gretsch's I remember back in the day had the f-hole painted on. The body was actually closed. They must have changed somewhere along the way.

A fake f-hole. It ended up being so light, you'd think it was hollow.
Real. |

| | | | Just a small anecdote... This f hole thread reminds me of the little son of a friend, who receives music lessons, and one day came to his house asking his father "why do violins, violas and basses have ****ing holes in them?" My friend was scandalized and told him he neednīt be so rude, and that why he was saying that, "that is not the language I teach you", etc. etc. The boy said to his father "today in music class we learned in a book that violins and violas have f-holes, and I remembered that one of the kids said that whenever he said "f-something" that meant really "****ing something". So he assumed that when the book said "F-holes" it really meant "****ing holes"...LOL Goes to show you how careful you should be with the way you express yourself in front of the kids. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
