A question was asked in the CB group with how rare this lumber is. I think it's rare, but not sure how rare. I'd be interested in seeing other examples if anyone else has something.

Here's mine.

Awesome! I've never even heard of a bass with this top wood.

You have some of the best looking basses!

Thanks! I have seen a few basses made of DF, but they're few and far between, which is why I'm trying to see what else is out there.

This bass is a Cliff Bordwell and the body shape is the Ball bass. It's a 32" scale 7, which I've wanted to have for many years. I had an opportunity to order this top and decided to take it.

I usually don't dig fancy wood on botiques, but this is indeed looking very good. Does the reflectiveness change when you move it?

Hey, I saw this on Slam. Yes Spade, I know it was you. I wouldn't even know where to begin on this.

Doesn't seem to change a whole lot, but I haven't played around with different angles and lighting at this point.

I have a bubinga topped bass that looks plain in normal light, but has good figure when under stage lights or artificial lights/flash photography.

Douglas fir is rare? Go to a good lumber yard and look at floor/ceiling joists and other framing members that aren't "engineered lumber"- a lot of it is douglas fir. However, doug fir with that kind of grain? Nice!

It's not used much for furniture or other things partially because it doesn't take stain well- very blotchy. Using a sealer is OK but that tends to make it look kind of "muddy".
