I put in a set of Custom Shop '60s pups and the thing absolutely sings, I love it to death. Beats out my stingray in terms of overall playtime at almost 1/3 its cost.

i just put CS 60's on my AV62RI and i agree!
EDIT: hey, Datsgor! my bass looked exactly like yours before i blacked-out the PG and control plate!

Strings - one has Chromes flats and one has Pressure wounds. Got'm off Craig's List for $280 (with nice Fender gig bag) and $300 (with hard shell case).
They sound and play just fine.
