Here is my ibanez btb with a gk3b. There is no space for normal gk mounting, but I don't like the "transformer uptimus prime" kit for ataching the gk, so I removed the pickup mix knob that I barely use, moved the bass eq knob instead and make the space to install the gk directly on the surface. I use to work with cables and electronics so it doesnt matter what the manual said, I dont like to bend the gk pickup cable, thats why is comming between the 3rd and 4 string...

By the way, no soldering required. There is space to leave the eliminated knob inside the back space without disconnecting it.

I have tried recently to buy the internal gk kit but not available anywhere...maybe Roland is going to change models soon...
I would like to see a less bulky external one...

Here's a cheap, good playing, but very mediocre sounding, Squier Jazz with a GK-3B pickup screw-mounted. I had to trim the springs down to about 1/3 their factory size but it's rock solid. I figure I'd experiment on an extremely cheap, but well playing, instrument to start. It's absolutely nothing like playing my Laklands, that's for sure. But the COSM instrument modeling in the GR-55 makes it sound excellent.

I LOVE my V-Bass rig.

Does that Ghost system work with the V-Bass???? I have a body and neck that I want to be nothing but V-Bass and I'm trying to not have to use the bulky Roland controller.
I've heard they don't make the internal kit for bass anymore.

I don't have any pics I can find, but here is a youtube clip I did:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5hcC7QK93A

Found a pic, but it isn't very good:

Just finished to mod my bass.
Originaly with a fretted neck but didn't get much love , now as a fretless , it's all I was dreaming for!

Seriously , this bass weights 7,8 pounds !
Gonna be around 7,2 when I'll get the light tuners.

Carvin neck / Warmoth body / Ghost kit + EMG EQ

Hey, I seem to debveloped a little issue maybe someone here can help with.
I re-installed my pick-up onto another bass- short scale 32" (setting on V-bass is 812mm).....
After resetting the scale for it, it has developed a "thump" to the begining of the note.
Like when you mute the strings and just pluck one, no matter the sound I selected, I get this "thump".
Now, for some hard R&B where I'm hugging the kick drum, it actually sounds kinda cool, but for other tones it doesn't.
Suggestions?

I didn't have this when it was on the other bass (set for 34"/863mm scale) and I'm using the exact presets I used prior. Only change is the bass that the pick-up is on.

Yes the Gr-20 has an option to select 'Bass Mode', the latency on the lower notes is very noticable, and you will need the GK-3B Bass hexaphonic pickup (the one in your picture is for guitar).
I used to own a GR-20 for my Bass, i have since sold it and got a Roland GR-55, which is very much more superior.

The GK devices are used with two different types of technology, the PCM synth which has latency (keyboard sounds as in the GR-20), and COSM Modeling technology (as in the VB-99) which does not suffer from latency.
The GR-55 has both these technologies built in.
