My girlfriend is trying to talk me into a trip to Japan after I finish my undergraduate in a year. Convince me it's worth it.
The normal basses are welcome too!
PS- There are also a couple of Japanese only basses I used to see referenced a lot around here. The ones with individual pickups for each string and all. I thought they were so cool. Hopefully someone has a picture or name of one. |

Unfortunately, I don't own one but you did ask for names and Atlansia seems to be big as far as weird and Japanese go.

I might have to look into picking one up. (Before this year ends...)
I love the more "out there" looking instruments. |

Craft beer in particular is growing rapidly in popularity with numerous craft breweries, craft specialty pubs and great beer festivals and the quality of the beer is quite spectacular with some really intriguing trends such as aging in cedar barrels or using multiple yeast strains with some often originating from Sake brewing.
I personally could not care less what the bass scene is anywhere I travel as long as there are good culinary, art and/or brewing scenes, good herping (reptile hunting) doesn't hurt either.

| | | While I am a big fan of MIJ - CIJ Fender Basses (my main axe is a 1989 MIJ 60's Reissue Jazz), I own no other Japanese "oddities", save for a vintage Yamaha SA70.
I did find these guys online once: Jersey Girl Guitars http://www.geocities.jp/jerseygirlhg/gindex.htm
That links you right to the basses.
I think the stuff is beautiful. Awesome woodwork. But, like Alembic, Fodera and many others, I might not be privy to owning one (my Fenders continue to collect nicks and dings regularly... and I like it that way).
A feast for the eyes! Enjoy!

My favorite one is this one: |

Atlasia Solitaire fretless
Tokai Talbo B135
BTW Japan is one of the most fantastic places in the world. If you don't want to go will your girlfriend take me instead? ;-)

BTW, I like the Talbo
