After skimming the search, I don't believe this question has been asked, but concerning the pickups, can one take out the pups and put a Seymour soapbar under the chrome covers, or are they glued on there?

Not very well, apparently: this was just posted two days ago!

....but the quick answer: a) the Silverbird's pups are more "humbucker"-shaped than the standard T-Bird TB+ pickups or Soapbars in general and wouldn't pit under the chrome covers or in general without routing, and b) IIRC, they're glued in and can't be removed.
