Simplicity is bliss...

So, despite my longings for a nice hollowbody custom (still on the to do list), I've stumbled across a little bit of bass nirvana. The GC nearby had a Squier P-Bass sitting around for $99, and I could just not pass that up. I figure, every bassist should own a P-bass, right?

Aside from needing a good cleaning, it was near perfect. A defret, a set of D'Addario chromes, a good setup and some vintage threaded saddles later and it is possibly one of the most comfortable instruments I've ever played. The best part for me: no knobs for me to keep twiddling excessively.

It's simple, and I like that. It's great not having to mess around with settings for days to get a good sound because it's already there. Now all I need is a tort guard.

I tried to love a P but it just didn't work for me. I like the keep it simple thing, but the tone I like is active Barts and a fretted rosewood board.

after owning slews of 2 pickup and even a 3 pickup bass, i am finding 1-pickup basses to be pretty great for playing. just varying the volume and single tone-cut controls can give you quite a bit of tonal options....

I'm glad someone finally made a thread about the P bass.

Congratulations. I like P basses too.

I appreciate the simplicity thing too but then I remind myself that my passive MIA Jazz bass I now use most times is not that much more complex.
