I'm a huge fan of 1980s MIJ basses (guess I'm showing my age) and in my opinion one of the finest specimens from that time period is the Aria Pro II.
You could build an entire collection just specializing on the unique types of Aria Pros from the 80s.
I've been really digging my Fretless 1981 Aria Pro II SB700 so much that I decided to expand the arsenal.
Ideally, I would have found a fretted SB1000 but they are getting tough and expensive to locate.
So I settled on it's little brother, a 1984 Aria Pro II RSB Deluxe.
But I was not to be disappointed.
It may not have quite the same sustain as its neck-through big brother or the same natural beauty to behold (I hate black basses)
But it's far more versatile with its P-J configuration, dual tone-volume knobs as well as dual coil-tap switches.
I sing the praises of one of the best from the Japanese guitar invasion --- The Aria Pro II.
