Question Single cuts with upper part not too long

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi, im tryng to find a single cut shape for a build.

it will be a bolt on, so i dont want the upper part going too long attached to the neck.

The ideal would be 15/16 fret ore something like that.

Most SC goes far at 12 fret..

The ideal would be Keith Martinīs but with a rounder shape just like foderas...

thanx!

Most single cuts go that far so the bass will balance.
Attaching a strap at the 15th fret almost guarantees neck-dive.

Not always. I've played a few heavy basses that had a short horn and still had plenty of neck dive.

No--it's all a matter of balance, and unless you have a very light neck and a very heavy body, it'll have neck dive.

If you're building, all you can do is set the neck further into the body--as far as the correct bridge placement will allow, but then you give up highest fret access.
