Is there a real reason to not use something like this off of ebay in a build? If there were middle ground, I would go for it, but it's either these or pay $80 total for the Hipshot version. I'm not usually about the money, but it makes my stomach turn a little to think that something so small and mass-produced could cost so much per part. There's much less metal involved than a full size bridge, and each single string bridge is identical except for two saddle-width variations - I just don't see the reason for a cost to be so high.
I know the the parts I mentioned are from China, but honestly, so are most production basses and everything in them. Would anyone ever notice the difference between these and the Hipshot ones? What about these mass produced Chinese bridges is inferior to USA mass produced bridges? Is there even a difference at all? |

I'm assuming the spacing between the mounting holes and string-through holes are different from the hipshot version. Ohwell, I might just have to find a cheap craigslist bass to test these out on for a few months and post my findings... |

YMMV, yours may turn out te be great.
