Question Six String Bass For Progressive Metal...

Sign in to disble this ad
First of all, I want to thank you for reading this post. Thanks again. Now I want to ask my question

I play bass about three years and I have a precision copy. (Lyon by Washburn, LB-20 or LB-40) But I accepted the university last year. So I met new people. And we decided to make progressive metal. Actually I am playing heavy metal and hard-rock. I guess I have to ask my question

I want to buy a new bass for progressive. My new band will cover Dream Theater. And I guess we will try this.

For this new bass, I have about 1000 dollars. But I have to buy an amplifier 'cause I don't have, I played bass with computer or my old music stereo. After my research at music market, I found these basses.

Cort A6 (Artisan) - 730 $
Ibanez BTB676 - 1000 $ (If I buy this one, I can not buy an amplifier.)
Washburn XB126 - 475 $
Ibanez SR506 (USED) - 315 $

As you see, I don't know what I have to do. And I hope you can help me with your experience. Thanks again.

Note: I hope this topic is right place. If it is not I am sorry. And I am sorry for my english

Your English is fine.
Some of the lesser expensive Ibanez and ESP basses may be what you need. That would allow you to buy the amp you need.

Go get the SR 506. The Soundgears are very easy to play and you can get a great variety of sounds from them. I love my SR 406!

Plus you will have plenty of cash left over to buy a good amp, which is more important than an expensive bass. IMO

Thanks for your answer. I looked all of them and especially I like Schecter Riot-6 but I guess there is no shipping to Turkey. Or I didn't find right part for this. And probably I can not find this bass in Izmir It may be in Istanbul. But I thank you again for your interest.

Actually I thinked to buy Cort A6 but some friends don't say good things about it. So I am so confused. I don't know what I will do

Save up some money for a Musicman Bongo 6 . That's the perfect bass for the genre

With your budget I'd get the used 506 and then spend the rest on the best amp you can afford

Thanks for your answer but as you guess, I'm just student. And it is too hard to save up this 1000 $. Off course I want to buy a Music Man, but it is 800 $ more than my budget. And I want to buy an amplifier. But I want to thank you for your interest.

That Bongo is way, way more than he was hoping to spend.

It's hard to go wrong with a used SR506. Another good option is the Schecter Stiletto Studio 6, but it's more expensive.

If you can get the Riot 6, it is a great piece of hardware. Failing that, I think the Ibanez SR506 is the best bet.

I have no advice, I just wanted to say that your topic is in the right place, and your English is better than that of many Americans. Good luck with your search!
