The Peavey TL-6 is similar. It has split coil pickups. |

EDIT: Well, Earwigger, I meant in the future.

EDIT: Well, Earwigger, I meant in the future. | Well, there is the Steve Bailey custom model, if/whenever they decide to release one to the general public. And I've seen pictures of 6 string Jazzes at NAMM, so I know that there are at least a few "real" 6 string Fenders in existence.

3rd bass from left:
And that fretboard looks like a freaking nightmare to play.

I've owned a TL-Six for two years, and while it has split coil pups, there are two of them, and they are active. Not P-sounding at all. I'd much rather HAVE a split coil, PASSIVE, six-string bass pickup, and the volume/tone pot config of a P-Bass. Still a fine bass, though.
And, for the record, I was comparing this to a stock (except for the strings) 1973 Fender P.

They are all Jazz-style basses. Don't know for how long though, because I don't think he's got an endorsement deal with Fender anymore.
Except for fat neck a 6 string P would be cool because the split pickups would be 3 and 3 which would seem more balanced than the Fender 2 -3 thing I've seen on the 5ers. |

| | | | If I remember correctly I've also seen a picture of Anthony Jackson playing a six-string with split P-style pickups... It was in Bass Player several years ago for their "history of the six-string" article. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
