I think I've seen one before. It was a Conklin or another custom job.
The Peavey TL-6 is similar. It has split coil pickups.

Fender just got around to making a true passive traditional 5-string P this year. Traditional, except for the 5th string!

If Fender ever makes a six-string bass that's not tuned like a guitar I'll eat my hat.

EDIT: Well, Earwigger, I meant in the future.

They don't. And they probably won't. They made those 6-strings that the bassist from Alien Ant Farm played, but those are incredibly rare custom shop models (and not P-basses).

I suppose if you have enough money, you can get some luthier to build you something great, although I'd think a P bass neck thickness on a 6 would be painful.

Well, there is the Steve Bailey custom model, if/whenever they decide to release one to the general public. And I've seen pictures of 6 string Jazzes at NAMM, so I know that there are at least a few "real" 6 string Fenders in existence.

Doesn't John Turner have a 7-string Conklin P- bass?

I know he has a 7-string J-bass.

3rd bass from left:

And that fretboard looks like a freaking nightmare to play.

Um, no. Not similar in the slightest. I've owned a TL-Six for two years, and while it has split coil pups, there are two of them, and they are active. Not P-sounding at all. I'd much rather HAVE a split coil, PASSIVE, six-string bass pickup, and the volume/tone pot config of a P-Bass. Still a fine bass, though.

And, for the record, I was comparing this to a stock (except for the strings) 1973 Fender P.

I opted for a dual coil with a push/pull volume knob to give me a series / parallel option. It's a 1951 slab style P body... that can be P like in tone too.

Hey, you can buy either a fretless or fretted Steve Bailey from Amazon.com right now! They are all Jazz-style basses. Don't know for how long though, because I don't think he's got an endorsement deal with Fender anymore.

Except for fat neck a 6 string P would be cool because the split pickups would be 3 and 3 which would seem more balanced than the Fender 2 -3 thing I've seen on the 5ers.

If I remember correctly I've also seen a picture of Anthony Jackson playing a six-string with split P-style pickups... It was in Bass Player several years ago for their "history of the six-string" article.
