Feel free to discuss modifications, set-up, issues etc. I've been using a flammed maple/alder 6 for 8 years now and I'm 100% satisfied with these basses! -Luke

You guys need to treat yourselves (and your Cirrus) to a Millennium preamp upgrade. Totally worth the (cheap) money!

Stu would never suggest wasted money | I know we keep having this debate, but at least mine don't sound that different. At the time I got a Cirrus with this as an upgrade, I wanted to be sure they sounded the same while flat, which Peavey assured me was the case. Other than that, same bass and treb frequencies, power, and widths. My different Cirri have subtle differences, but I wouldn't attribute that to the pre-amp when set flat. With the mids engaged, naturally, I find the sweepable mids allow for much more than the stock pre. |

But I do think it is there. And as you pointed out, once you start trying to dial in a sound, the difference is very noticeable.
Most of the time, I like to bump my mids a bit, bump the bottom up a bit, and cut the highs a bit. Generally speaking, you could do that with the stock pre or the Mill pre. But, FOR ME, being able to dial in just where the mid bump happens make a big difference in the sound I end up with. When I hear my Cirrus, the first thing that comes to mind is "this bass speaks with AUTHORITY!"
