So i tried out the new Sterling by Music Man S.U.B SB4 at GC.........

all i can say is WOW!!! And this is coming from a original owner of a 94 sterling. The SB4 had that same old middy growly tone that just cuts thru. The feel of the neck felt like the same Tung oil feel of my 94 so that was a huge plus. The only gripe i have is i really wish it came with more color options and had the selector with the three band Eq but i think for $249 street i'm asking too much

I must admit that i am so please and thankful with companies like Musicman, Squier and Cort (just to name a few) for producing extraordinary budget basses of late. Now i just cant wait when Sadowsky or Fodera jumps on board and built a $299 product..maybe?

I'm glad to hear these getting good reviews. the walnut stain ray 4 has a really classy look. Its a color option I wish they offered for the US stingray classics.

So, I'm not the only one who felt like these things were truly excellent, eh?

I MUST HAVE that walnut satin. It just begs my hands to play it. So, until Squier makes a Precision body/jazz neck bass with 2 precision pickups (one in "standard" p position, one right on the bridge), this is my "dream budget" bass.

...with an audere and the price of the bass right around $400 bucks i would have a serious working man's bass with tone for days....WOW!!!

The Ray4/5 is the Stingray version.

However, BOTH have the same neck with the 38mm nut. Deal breaker for some, seals the deal for me

Have seen a recent flood of them on show room floors.

That's freaking giving them away for $250....I would think that it barely cover production and transportation costs? Kinda makes you wonder doesn't it??

I played one as well. It's the most impressive bass ive played that's under $400. They definitely blow squier out of the water.

What's that you say? A Ray with a Sterling neck? Bleh! Tho whole reason I love Rays is because their big spacing gives you more room to work with, I feel a little cramped on jazz style necks. Oh well, I'll check em out at GC and see if I like em.

Wowzerz, you really think huh? In that case I'll have to give them a try. I take it they're leagues ahead of the old SUBs and the OLPs?

The original SUB series basses were 100% made in the USA and are in a different league than the newly released import series SUB line.

I've owned both and the hardware/electronics on original USA SUB line is much higher quality than the new SUB line.

That being said, I really like my new SUB SB4. It sounds great and is super light and a ton of fun to play
