| | | Solid bass $300-$500 range Hey fellow TBers,
I am looking for a solid backup bass in the range of $300 to $500. I wanted to get a ibanez roadstar II standard but they are really difficult to find the particular model I am after.
New or used i don't care but vintage stuff is always preferred. Please throw out some suggestions or lemme know about your own personal experiences with bass hunting for something great yet affordable.
Thanks

| | | | I've been pretty consistently impressed with Yamahas. I played a BBN5 for years that I got for around $350 new, and while maybe not amazing, it was definitely solid. |

| | | | I recently found a Spector NS2000/Q4 in my attic. I think they sell in your price range. I'm loving that thing. |

I just scored an 80's Sarzo Signature for $450 and it is a killer bass in all respects. These were at the top end if the line at the time and are very well made - I'm loving it!
I hear nothing but high praise for the lower end USA models as well. Check out the Peavey Club thread.

| | | | +1 to the Classic Vibe suggestions. I modded the pickups on my CV 60s Precision for a while, but I ultimately went back to straight stock. Excellent basses! |

Mind you, it has a bit of road wear on it, but it still looks and sounds great. A good set-up, new strings and one Drop D tuner later, it went from great to awesome! Not only is it solid, but it has character to spare.
I keep seeing them pop up on used listings for about $500, give or take fifty bucks. If you're looking for something lightweight, and if you can find one to try, give it a whirl.
