Someone likes to trade his Warwick Streamer LX5 for my Stingray5 H/H

I think that the topic title says it all.

I have a MM SR5 H/H 2007 sitting in my house not used since when I bought my 2012 Fender J.

It's just a bigger joy playing the Fendy than my SR. Now it's sitting home and I wand to trade a bass for something else.

Now there is one guy which proposed a trade with me. He would like to trade in his Warwick Streamer LX5 made in 2002, serial number H 094931 02. You can check this serial on warwicks website.

Now my question is: Is it worth it? I mean, how's the quality level with this bass? I haven't tried it yet, but I want to. I like the idea of a Warwicks sound.

But there's a problem - you can find Streamers all the way from Rockbass crap version for 500€ and all up to some expensive "like a sir" versions ranging even as high as 5000€.

Can someone who knows Warwicks like his pockets tell me please what's the quality of this bass? Is this even worth switching for a Stingray? As I said, I don't use my Sting anymore so "the epicness of a sting" can be excused. I just wan't to get myself a new bass I would like and use, preferably with a modern sound (what I expect from that warwick), would mostly like to use that bass maybe for some fusion, funk, rock, etc.

I just want a fair trade so that I wouldn't trade for something less than my sting.

Please help me with this one

This is probably going to be a subjective discussion. I personally LOVE the sound of MM basses but do not like the feel of them (mostly a string spacing issue for me). The Warwick is going to have 16.5mm spacing (unless it's a broad neck version), whereas your MM is probably more like 18mm or 19mm spacing. The difference in string spacing is too much for some to overcome (like me). If you're used to the spacing on your MM and you have trouble with tighter spacing, the Warwick is likely not for you (unless, as mentioned, it's a broadneck version).

As for quality, the LX5 was still a German made bass in 2002. Slim ovankol neck (if you're into the MM baseball bat neck, beware of Warwick), wenge fretboard, contoured maple body (excellent if you have a belly! haha). Active 3-band MEC pre-amp. Fully adjustable bridge and nut. Easy-access control cavity cover and truss rod cover. Tons of good stuff. I've had almost 30 Warwicks, and the 1998 LX5 I had was certainly in my top 3. Outstanding bass. I wish I had kept mine, but it's always easy to see your errors in hindsight! I sold mine to a guy on TB actually, and he liked it a lot too. I wish I could get it back.

If I was holding a MM and someone offered me a German LX5, I couldn't do the deal fast enough. But again, this is subjective.

Good luck!
