I almost dont want to insult him but i would offer $150. What do you guys think??

CBNJ 02-11-2013 08:48 AM

I think there's a bigger issue at hand.. what is Kijiji? :p

Starflyer59 02-11-2013 08:55 AM

Kijiji is like craigslist in Canada, it means village is swahilli.

Is the most popular online classified ad site in the great white north.

Given the utterly unrealistic asking price, methinks the seller would find any reasonable offer insulting.

altamont 02-11-2013 09:00 AM

I guess he's asking 600$ for the bass AND the amp. Still it's hardly worth 300$ altogether, brand new.

NYCbassist 02-11-2013 09:02 AM

There are Squiers that I would pay $600 for but that ain't one of 'em.

Baird6869 02-11-2013 09:02 AM

It is an Affinity. It is a $200 bass.

Point is, he can ask $6,000 if he wants.

Ping him with a link to a similar bass at L&M. $150-200 is fair.

Strat Hater 02-11-2013 09:05 AM

I live 2hrs from Calgary and I see that happen all the time here in lethbridge :rollno:

rockinrayduke 02-11-2013 09:06 AM

Squires must be worth more than Squiers.

agent77 02-11-2013 09:12 AM

The address says Windham, ME. I used to live in Brunswick which is pretty close, but still a few hours from Canada.

Im tempted to as the white affinity jazz bass v dont pop up for sale that often.

Kijiji is the gathering of super overprice sub par deal, but at the same time i have found some really good deals that i got a hold of (like my lakland DJ5 for $750) and deals i wish i had the money at the time to own (i had to pass a 2009 fender AM P5 for $700).

That is it, he must be using a very old conversion rate from USD to CAD. :hiding:

Just like any other marketplace site (ebay, craigslist, even on here), there are ridiculous prices that pop up, along with amazingly good deals. I suppose if you really wanted the bass and amp, then send the guy a message and try to open up a dialogue with him. Otherwise, why waste the energy - just chuckle at the ad and move along to the next one.

Bassamatic 02-11-2013 09:35 AM

I guess anyone can have high in the sky hopes, but that has to be more than the new price. $200 for everything is about right.

On the other hand, " a sucker is born every minute".

I find sometimes when I see stupid prices, the person selling is a "sell it for you" business, or someone that buys and sells anything, and has no idea of what the real value is.

nshuman 02-11-2013 09:36 AM

In Canada, Kijiji and Craigslist are filled with people who think they can sell their gear at full retail price just because they are not charging taxes. That includes the price of all the crappy accessories they were tricked into buying. Would not be surprised if that guy paid that bass, amp, strap, tuner, etc a LOT more than 600$. Just trying to pay their bad deals forward :) But, you can also find some good gems sometimes. I recently got a great deal on a T1M dual solo booster with buffer. That's also where I got a great deal on a PJB Briefcase. You just have to keep looking and looking, but, yeah, 90% of stuff is crazy overpriced, especially in the low end spectrum (epiphone, squier, etc).

Just picked up a SansAmp Bass driver deluxe for 175.00 shipped off Kijiji which is a fair price. However there are a lot of other adds on there that just make you shake your head. Fellow on my local CL has been running an ad for 4 months on a Hercules Dual guitar stand, asking 5.00 less than new and not accepting offers.

Saw this ad earlier today. I chuckled. Apparently though, it's supporting a good cause..
