Also, here are 2 "first draft tracks" I recorded.

One is a Hard Rock Style the other is a Modern Jazz style.

Both with the Forte w/Haz.

(warning the snare drum is too loud on one of them)

Both show the raw Haz tone, recorded direct into pro tools no outside processing

sweet. i was trying to get some answers on the hazlab pre. but i heard it on one of the youtube vids of a german guy reviewing a spector and man does it sound sweet. so yeah im definitley going to look into upgrading my p/u and pre

dude! the rock clip is the tone im looking for so all this time ive been searching for a preamp???? ***??? mike starr from alice in chains is my all time favorite tone, and the first clip is that tone. now i know what i have to invest in. i might have to email pj and ask him if the haz will go into my legend??? or am i going to have to save up for 2 years to get a forte? it never ends.

would you recommend i could get the tonepump and some emg active p/j's and my tone would be close to the tonepump clip?

Funny story, when I first installed the Haz into the Forte and I played the first few notes after the install, I started making strange noises because it sounded so good and my wife an daughter thought something was wrong with me lol.

Im not sure if the Haz will fit in the Legend cavity, it also only works with active EMGs.

but the Tonepump is gonna get you close in tone for only a $99.

Active EMGs and a Tonepump will get you close.

im thinking real hard about going that route. man i would be like a kid getting a new bass again. yeah after listening to that clip again, the tonepump is pretty close to the haz. to me, it's not quite as full, but really stinkin close.

I just rememberd I also recorded the Tonepump wired at 18Volts.

The tone is a bit fuller then at 9Volts. I think this is your way to go.

From which end were the "strange noises" emanating?

You've got some great reference "tones" in your recordings
