Beautiful!
John did you get a chance to do those RBI recordings? I'm in negotiations with MF for a price discount.
Thanks,
Brent
Give me about an hour or two and I will upload a few. My biggest issue was using GarageBand but I have figured that out and am good to go. I have one done already but the playing is just terrible so I want to do one where I at least seem like I don't completely suck

Give yourself some credit man! Im sure whatever you post will kick ass. I was nervous as heck when I posted my first clips, but the good feedback I got here encouraged me to post more.
That's now the second NSCRFM in trans black I have seen in the same day. Never seen one before either. It's an early czeck model pre euro. Great bass!
My NS4CR is trans black. SSD logo - early model from CR.
Unfortunately, it's really difficult to capture the grain in the finish in a photo indoors. I need to haul it outside and snap some pix on a sunny day.

Oh, I am my own worst critic I find every little thing about my playing and just rip it apart, haha.

Ha, I'm guilty of it as well. Heck, I think we all are. I think that's part of how we make ourselves get better though.
This is very true. The one thing I do find myself doing though is thinking too much while playing and that does get me to make mistakes so I need to work on that.
Ok, so I finally made a clip I didn't totally hate using my NS-5XL Please be gentle
The first part of the clip is clean with the bass boosted and treble is flat.
The second part I have the RBI engaged using the Ampeg SVT settings.
The third part, I have the RBI engaged using the Ampeg SVT settings and the bass and treble boosted all the way.
The fourth part is clean with the bass and treble boosted all the way.
The riff is from the song "25 Years" by Pantera off the Far Beyond Driven CD.

Reason: forgot to name the riff.
Is that a NS-2A? That is really nicely figured wood for a 2A.
It's a schaller bridge.
I don't really know what this bass is. A NS2a prototype makes the most sense to me. The figured wood looks nice, USA haz pre, and it is 1.5" at the nut like the wimbish model. The sound and quality is on par with my black NS2a.
The Schaller bridge makes seems to make the tension of the strings stiffer than my black NS2a, so I have to use DR hi beams instead of lo riders (which what I like on the black NS2a). Also, it likes broken in strings, the black NS2a likes fresh "zingy" strings. I've enjoyed playing both of them.

I indicate my love for PJ bass tone (I go into quite a lot of detail, so please feel free to read and reply there) and I want it soon! Now, I am probably going to be working with around $1200 or so in my budget. I don't want to buy a new Spector (or a new bass at all since I discovered how great of deals can he had at the Classifieds here on TalkBass!!) so I think that could get me a good instrument.
What would you all recommend that I keep my eyes out for that would have EMG PJ setup with a Tone Pump or better pre-amp? It doesn't have to be new, either. Could be from the 90s or whatever. Minor cosmetic problems aren't important.
Basically: What is the best thing I could get for that money if I keep my eye on the Classifieds for a couple of months?

at that price point you will be able to find a Euro LX easily

First, the NS-5XL sounds amazing.
I love the direct tone. The RBI engaged Ampeg setting gives some nice full rounded sound and it still leaves in the bottom end. Very nice.
Regarding your playing, stop worrying about mistakes. They happen especially when you first start recording.
When I recorded my clips last night, I seriously re-recorded the first track at least 25 times before I was happy with it.
Hmmmm...maybe my post in your original thread sent you to seek the "truth" in the Spector Club thread?
Bongolation doesnt get it, apparently...thats ok.
