Hey guys. I'm looking for some thoughts on the ARC6 guitars. My son's been playing guitar now for about a year now on a 3/4 size electric and it's probably getting to the time when he should move up to a normal scale guitar. He's almost 10 and skinny as a rail so weight is a consideration. (Digressing...I remember being about that age and mowing a lot of lawns to save up for a used black Epiphone Les Paul so I could live out my Steve Clark fantasies in my bedroom. But man was that thing heavy, slung down around my knees...)

And yes, I know, I know...he should be playing bass...believe me, I'm trying...

Whew, you scared me there for a second there I told myself I am not going to miss seeing Cannibal this time around and I thought I was keeping an eye on their tour dates so when you mentioned they played Roseland, I was mad at myself. It's all good man, haha.

Sam (Limaguy) has an Arc6 Pro and really likes it from what I hear. If you watch some of the NAMM 2012 video's, he is using that and his Forte to record all of the tracks he made and it sounds great.

He got his for a great price used from Guitar Center and they pop up on there from time to time. I just checked and they have one for $269 which seems like a deal. 107478963 is the number if you need it and its in the Miami Florida store.

Spector Legend Custom 5 Bubinga

Seems to be V V Mid and stacked B/T, not sure if this is EMG pre or not.

Sounds quite good. Need to slap some new strings on it, but it plays rather well. Also, working on a custom Rebop with BC and PJ. Details to follow.
Man that's a killer Legend!! Where did you pick that up?

yeah Johnny posts in the Live Sound and a few other places, when he does post. total un-rockstar vibe from being the uber mega-star he is. there's a YT concert from like Baltimore Nov. 2011 that is just awesome, and he plays 2 of his Legends. even through the YT footage (which is great, actually) you can hear how amazing his tone is.

Case question-

so the ReBop I'm getting doesn't come with a case. I dunno that I want to shell out the $$ for a big heavy HSC... have any of you had experience with the soft-hard cases that are out there? And if so, what kinds? I'd look at a gigbag but I think for the price, the hard-soft ones are a better value and give better protection.

I'm looking at either of these:

Mine only travel in Mono gigbags these days. Expensive but worth every penny imo.

Love the ARC6. It's got the same tonal sound, the crunchy sound of the Les Paul, but is lighter with the curved body.

The neck fits into the body a nice place so wrist strain is minimal. The neck is more profiled like a Strat (older vintage with some beef but not the thicker profile of the Les Paul).

In all the ARC6-Pro and ARC6-Pro Trem are great guitars for the money and if you ever decide to upgrade them, drop in different pups like an EMG 81/85 set and you can really tear it down into metal or hard rock, or got to some of the Duncan pups like a Pearly Gates and get a more Strat-like sound.

I have a USA ARC6 Set Neck on order and currently have Lance Harvill's (Arms of the Sun/Rex Brown) RX-GT Set Neck in my possession (Lance is a good friend and I needed some photos, plus his RX-GT is gloss white). And have to say that I love the neck profiles on Stuart's electric guitars. And the import models are identical to the USA models in that regard.

I also agree with the Mono bag statement! ...iGig cases are nice too...lots of pockets and storage! Both will cost about the same ($180), but they are light weight and protect your instrument like a hard shell case!

I've looked at both the Mono and InCase designs, but with the way we transport gear I at least need a hard-soft case just for peace of mind...

I'm not really sure how to respond to this, but it won't take 20 pages.

First, I don't have anyone kissing my butt. Not sure who that's aimed at.

Second, I do hang out with Spector musicians. I think many would be amused to be called celebrities. So I'll pass that along.

Third, let me know when you find out a way to break a person's nose through TalkBass... perhaps a special keyboard command? Ctrl/Alt/B/N ? And then the person's mouse attacks them or something?

Dude, not questioning your heart. I think we know each other well enough to know that we're both decent, good people.

My point was that I've gotten several people tell me how turned off they've been by the way they were treated here, and it in return colored their perception of Spector "Die-Hards". And I know you all to be really cool, helpful people so it's disappointing to see new visitors think otherwise.

First impressions stick. And I know there have been plenty of douche-tards who have come through and tried to rip people off and they get called out and usually run away with their tails tucked.

But every once in a while you get someone like Steve who's appears to be completely legit and honest, just uniformed. So just be polite and ask because you never know.

Thanks for the info. After I posted this, I came across the review you did with Cameron. Aidan (son #1) doesn't need a $3k guitar but the import should more than suffice for the endless iterations of Over the Mountain.

Btw, that spalt-topped ARC is awesome. That would make a nice companion to my spalted tele....must...show...(what did my wife call it?)...oh yeah...restraint. Ha!

I know this came up a day or so ago, but did we ever find out if this is legit?? If it is, and no one here is bidding, I might be on it!
