And yes, Magneto has returned. I pre-ordered The Avengers for myself yesterday so I bought my geek cred back
All Hail Magneto! Good to see him back. I'm also maintaining my geek status by finally going to see the Dark Knight movie today.

I absolutely love the EMG pre in my CRFM. For my needs it out-performs the non-trim TP in my Euro, and for certain tones, I actually prefer it over my USA NS-4.

Btw, my EBS Microbass II is scheduled to arrive today - I can't wait to try all three of my Spectors through it.

I'd love to hear opinions of the tone? I might switch to using this as my main bass for live use. I'm digging the US 9 volt preamp!!!!

Very cool. I like the tone...nice low grind going on there.

It has a lot into it...I think it is really versatile and I would be curious to hear what this pre sounds like with a regular P/J setup...

I'm betting with new strings it will sound all the better
I'm ordering another US 9 volt circuit in the upcoming weeks for CRFM.

That is the sound I'm looking for with my new NS2A. At this point I can't afford the USA 9V but I'm hoping the TP I have coming will get me a little closer to that than than the EMG BTS it currently has. It's also good to know that I'm not the only one to think about the USA cuircut in an older NS2a. People were thinking I'm crazy looking at the pre cost compared to what the bass cost.

Not a perfect comparison since there are different Strings and Pickups in each bass.

A recording of my Forte with a USA 9V Circuit

I recorded the 5 string basses (which belong to delucajohn2000) a few months back.

In the following clip:
1st, Forte w/ 9V USA Circuit, P/J Pickups, Dunlop Steel Strings
2nd, Euro5LX w/BQC 18V DC Pickups, Hi Beams Strings
3rd, NS-5 w/ 18V USA Circuit, DC Pickups Spector Nickel Strings

The USA 18V sounds the "cleanest" of those. The nickels could have something to do with that though. I like them all!

I dig them all!!!! My fav is probably a close tie between the Forte and the Euro though.

hey bassgiant,

How far are you tuned down in your sample? Also what amp/cab emulations were you using with ax/fx? That tone just sounds dirty, and I mean that in a good way.....
