Thanks bassgiant for sharing that video! That Coda 5 has an awesome
Snarl to it, man!! Now I'm really stoked for mine to get here! PJ said it'll arrive back to the shop from the finish shop on the 12th then setup. Maybe, just maybe ill see it before next weekend! In time for an out of town gig in Onaway Sunday night! Ill be stoked for sure if that happens for sure!!! A name for my Coda 5 just popped into my head..."Big Blue"!

Just a short side not...My Praise Band has been asked by another United Methodist in Onaway, to play at their church so their congregation can hear/see what its like. And they'd like us to teach their musicians also. I don't mean this as bragging, not at all, I'm just stoked as this is an honor to do. Ever since we released our cd this summer our Praise band has been getting calls to play at special events.

the brooklyn sounded really good. ive played the US 9v before and this bass had the grunt. the guy was real nice, but he had to move a lot of stuff around to get to the spectors, knowing I was just there to kick tires I really didn't feel comfortable having him truck out multiple 5000 dollar basses.

it has a pretty stout neck profile like a p bass. which I happen to like. it was super comfortable, it had as much ping as you could want with the hazlab and the new strings. dick this one didn't look too figured but when it got the light on it you could see a little flame anyway.

I hope this is the one you wanted. I asked him to pull out the plainer looking one. edit: nope just looked at the site he grabbed the wrong one. oh well.

ps the sadowsky metro PJ bass is an absolute tone beast.

holy sh*t

Would that be #5? I like #6 better, but, I prefer one of the 3 on guitar house of Tulsa. http://www.guitarhouse.net/store/det...ufacturer_id=1 But it sold.
Just can't spend the bucks on it right now. End of the month I'll be on the buy for a Kramer/Brooklyn NS-2. We're going to be selling 2-3 lots off of our property to a couple people.

I'd "settle" for any one of the old-school models, but for the price range we're looking at, I'm thinking I should just order one exactly the way I want.... The only problem is, that keeps changing!
I have been gassing for a 5-A quilt top in ultraviolet, but I'm pushing 50, and maybe something a bit more subdued - like the Brooklyn-style - would be more appropriate, especially for my two non-metal projects. I definitely like the walnut models, & the Brooklyn would look at home in any situation. The ultraviolet would look great with my metal band, but I may raise some eyebrows if I brought a purple bass to rehearsals with my church choir or bluegrass band.

that's a lot of the reason I went to a streamer stage II. just a real subdued look. the walnut Spector is tonally more in line with what I like but it's 5g's.

Great sound - love that song. Wish they were playing it when I saw them last fall.

Seems like he's playing a newer Euro with a maple top, matte finish and probably a TonePump. Just saying.

So this has been bugging me for a little while and while I know there's nothing I can do about it, I want to at least get an idea if this is something that can get worse or not.

I got that blue NS-5XL off the classifieds earlier this year that had been passed around several times over the past year or two, and I noticed when I got it you can see and feel the seam where the lower wing meets the heel of the neck. There's a white line there too. I don't know if this was an overabundance of whatever they used to bond the pieces together or what. It doesn't continue around the back.

The bass has a build date of 4/2008 and I know it was sold to Musician's Friend originally. Also one of the past owners told me he had bought it used from MF which leads me to believe someone returned it to MF at some point.

Here's the pic:

I have to say if it was like this from the factory, that would surprise me a lot. That would seem to explain why someone might have returned it though. I know if I custom ordered a Spector (especially a US bass) and got it looking like that it would have to go back. I can't imagine Spector would send a "lesser" build out just because it was MF and not an individual.

So my question is, could something have happened to the bass to make that adhesive expand? Maybe it sat in a hot warehouse too long? There's no evidence of a drop.

The bass still sounds and plays great, and seeing as I got it for a good deal with cash/trade, I can live with it. However it wasn't really easy to see in the pics or mentioned by the seller.

Just looking for some feedback to soothe my mind.

Let me know your thoughts. Kinda crappy sound from iphone video, but here's the NS-2A (modded with EMGs and using Ernie Ball Cobalts, has the Korean Haz) in action with some 'modern' songs - no effects on the bass but a bit of compression and tubetone (TC Electronic).
