I thought about buying an MIM Fender, cause thats my price range and Fender is my thing. But I honestly want something different. I see that the Spector Legend is in the same price range and full of very nice features. Bound neck, active eq, EMG pickups, and I dig the look too.
I dont know squat about Spectors, but is the Legend a solid Spector purchase? Something I could never get tired of?

Open the box today and instead of the amp I find some crappy Nady tube preamp.
I told their CS I wouldn't wait for them to receive the wrong item back from for them to ship the right one since I'm already going to be inconvenienced sending the thing back. They wanted me to wait until I at least took it to UPS but I won't have a chance to do that for another few days so I told them to forget it and that I'd get it elsewhere. So I guess I'm done ordering from them.
Not sure if I'll try to buy it new elsewhere or just wait for a used one.
Also thought about getting a M9 Carbine or an SVT4-Pro - if weight wasn't a concern which one is best? | great. hope that doesnt happen to me. but on another note, im not in any big hurry for mine.

| | Uber-Techno-Geek-Bass-Lover Webmaster - Photographer - Graphic Designer - SPECTOR® | | Join Date: Feb 2010 Location: Santa Barbara | | | In all fairness to a MIM Fender... it's sort of hard to compare the two. It's really hard to take any NS-Body style Spector and compare it to a Fender. They really are apples and oranges.
The Spector is a smaller-body contoured, very comfortable bass.
The Legend models have very fast necks.
The finish on the Spector will be better in my experience (please note I've never played an MIM Fender bass, but have played countless MIM guitars and owned a MIM Strat for about 4 days once).
The Spector is solid maple with a 3-piece maple neck and a AAAA maple top.
The pickups are EMG Hz models... which are their passive models.
But it has a 9v Active Spector TonePump Jr. circuit. This is a JFET (Junction Field Effect Transistor) circuit, which doesn't lose signal during the note's attack, which older circuits which use a device called an operational amplifier will do.
So it's a powerful instrument.
Popular upgrades include different pickups (EMG TWs which are single and dual coil tapping... so they can be played as humbuckers or as single coils like active J pups... the EMG DC pups which are my favorite EMG humbuckers... and the EMG P/J set in the humbucker housing). Other upgrades include circuit changes to EMG, Aguilar or other Spector made circuits.
It's a very customizable bass.
Here's the truth... anyone here can tell you that we all love Spectors... that's why we are here.
So what you should be thinking about is the tone you're looking for. Not knowing if you are looking at a passive or active Fender, the sound/tone difference between a passive Fender and an active Spector can be very different.
And you really should think about the feel and playability. Is it going to be right for you. I think the Legends are a great value. But again, that's what I think. And I'm biased.
Are you anywhere near a Spector Dealer where you might be able to call and see if they have a legend in stock? Or have you played one before?
More than anything I like to see people play Spectors because they want to. So if you can, try to find a store where you can demo one. That way you can be sure.
You owe it to yourself to find the best bass for your playing style. And I know a lot of guys who love Fender that don't "get" Spector. But I'm one of those guys whose played an original 1962 Fender J and an original 1959 P and I'd take my NS-2 over them any day of the week. But that's me.
I know I didn't really give you an answer. But in all honesty it wouldn't be right to say, "Do this..." I'd never want to be the guy who tells someone to get something and then they find they don't like it. You know?

Ive also heard many rock recordings using a Euro and like that tone. I dont play alot of rock, I play alot of jazz, lounge and oldies but want that sound. Currently do that with a P bass and rounds which does fine. But I want something with more versatility. Spectors of any kind are hard to come by at some of the local places, even GC, but I would love to try one. Fast thin neck is also something I desire.
I kinda knew already that my MIM Fender comparison wasnt a good one, but Fender is really all im accustomed to. Im trying to get out of that box and the Spectors really feel like a way to do that.

Otherwise, if you don't like it you can sell it for what you bought it for as they are priced very nice.

I'd like to sell it for $1225 shipped. That's club folks only on that price please. Everything on it is stock except the strings and I also installed gold Dunlop Straplocks and removed the Schallers. So basically, you get a brand new, $2000 Spector with $25 in new strings and $20 in new straplocks.
So think it over and let me know if you are interested. I'd be keeping it, but I just can't dig gloss black to own, though I can look at it and love it all day. Personal quirk, but that means you get a $2000 Spector for less than endorsee prices. | Must....resist........

The Legend is Korean made. The body is not fully curved but still has a curve.
Being that the ReBop is in the Euro line, the fit and finish will be nicer. You can't go wrong either way. |

I want to know what is the difference between passive pickup wired passive and active pickup wired passive.
Sound samples will be good?
I am thinking to buy http://www.taurus-amp.pl/bass/preamp...amps/t-di.html, get EMG BTS preamp out my bass and wired it passive vol-tone,vol-tone.
What you think about that is it worth?
