ReBops are generally readily available. The Guitar Center used section usually has quite a few, as does eBay. Though I must admit, I mostly see 4 stringers. |

Their were quite a few available in the weeks leading up to me being ready to buy one. When I had the cash in hand it was a month or so until another one popped up. But it made it all the sweeter when the right one appeared.

Brought it home and spent some time cleaning it up and doing some work on it. The pots were so scratchy that one barely worked. After hitting it with some cleaner/lube a couple times it's almost normal. The nut is so worn that it rattles on 3 of the 4 strings and it needs to have the frets dressed.
Anyway, after rigging the nut slots to stop the rattle and getting the pots working I played her for a good couple hours. I Love it! Even with pretty dead strings it still has that great Spector sound! The neck is fantastic and plays like a dream! I think I'll bring her to practice tonight as is and have at it.
Cheers!

Here is a older used ReBop at SamAsh used.
Price is a bit high, but you may be able to get them down. http://used.samashmusic.com/item.php?id=2440 Quote:

Cheers! | Most NS-2A's I have owned or seen have really worn/low slotted nuts.
This place on ebay sells a nut that fits in perfect for a NS-2A.
You will just need to shave 1-2mm off the bottom and it will fit fine. It comes 43MM X 9MM X 6MM http://www.ebay.com/itm/280972495405...84.m1436.l2649
Here is one I got from them and by the way this is the bass that cableguy now owns.

Thanks Sam! Quote:

It has upgraded DC pickups and a BQC preamp...........lol. I JUST agreed to trade it for a MESA M6....but it was around for a LONG time for $700
Surprised no one pointed it out..........myself included! LOL
There is a natural on GC.com for $599 in New Jersey with inlays. Looks to be decent. Price is less than half cost new street pricing. If you want one badly hop on that one!

Can't wait to get it all up to snuff! I've got a gig this weekend and I think I'm going to bring this and my 55-02 with me. Quote:

I know the earlier ones did not have a serial number. Does that mean it is likely an '87? Anyone know when they started putting the serial numbers in the NS2A's?

| | The NS-2a guy | | Join Date: Sep 2011 Location: Decatur, Alabama | | I too would like some information on this. I have two production NS2A's one is number 1064, the other 6267. Any history on how they did the serial numbers and non serial numbers would be appreciated. Maybe we could ask PJ about this. I don't like to bug him with questions on old stuff. But if several guys want to know....
I bet Todd has some info..... Quote:

But if several guys want to know.... | Here is the general info on NS-2A's as per PJ.
Early 1987 models did not have any serial numbers
They started putting serial numbers on the control covers.
Serial numbers NS1xxx would be mid-late 1987
The production at the original Korean factory was from 1987 to 1989. They made around 2-3K per year.
Serial numbers NS8xxx would be 1989
So NS6xxx maybe 88ish.
In 1990 they temporarily switched factories, thus the Samick verison NS-2A's which have S ser# on the back of the headstock. (and less curve, bridge and knob placement)
FYI, NS-94/95, 2000, Q & Legend series are made at the original Korean factory that the 87-89 NS-2A's were made at.
