Jeff - that packing job was priceless. "What's the best box to use when shipping an expensive instrument?" "Why sit down son. Pull up a chair. First you start with not one but TWO refrigerator boxes, then cut them in half cross wise and tape two bottoms together. OR two tops! That's what's so awesome about using the refrigerator box - YOU KNOW THE BASS WILL FIT!" Absolute insanity. Glad it received no further harm that you know of in the shipping process. Maybe the next time you guys could agree to meet at a rest stop and he could toss it to you between cars. If you're both careful you may not even have to slow down.... much. Sorry Jeff, but the pics and everyone's responses had me rolling.

Lee, come back!

Donny - sorry I wore out your ears about the board. But I really was just as excited as you for you to get into it. You gotta throw pics up as it evolves and when you get around to doing updated rig pics in general... but thanks for letting me help with this. It was a cool project to do and I really think that I was supposed to be a bass tech in another life

Jaymi - no more Wimbishes in the house of Millard. Sad, but you really truly only keep what gets played so if it's gotta move.... see you in the morning bright and early with your new computer BTW. Thanks for letting me stop early on the way to my brother's today. I'm leaving in a few hours.

Jamie - Dude. Thanks for helping me figure so much crap out. Sorry to have worried you so much, but I can't tell you how much I appreciate the help. I know you know, but just so you know.... and hey! Who's finally got HIS Spector? That's right damn it. It took work, but I knew that we'd find the right Spector for you. I can't wait for you to get to play it live for a whole show and hear how it ends up sounding through the 1500/2x15" Berg rig.

Mr.Bassie - Tangerine was an inspired choice and I honestly didn't think it would look as good as it does. It's better. And plus now that you're rocking the 9v... you've gotta be on top of the world

Chris your NS6-XL is stunning. To get a hold of a piece of tube quilt that big and with such great consistency.... and the finish colors are incredible. Definitely one of those magic quilts that changes color depending on the light. Congrats and I hope you get years of joy with it man.

Chris - how'd you end up narrowing down and deciding between the two 1x12s? Any reason GK didn't make the cut? Genz Benz? I know the GK stuff is usually the most affordable...

Anyone hear tell of the eagerly anticipated and expected shipment coming in from Haz Labs? I'm waiting on one particular 9v that's going into a certain white Ian Hill that is now in my care. I wish everyone could play this bass, partly because of what we all did to get it for Chris and helping him to reach his heart's desire and partly because it feels so damn good.

I swear the neck on Chris' white IH has the better profile. I know it'll have a better profile once the 9v is in it The other is another brand new, flamed maple top blue stain 35" scale LX4 with PJ pickups and came stock strung BEAD. She's beautiful, but I need the money for bills so it's all gotta go. There will be no extra basses in this dojo... too many medical bills. I will get pics and specs up as soon as I get back from Nashville. Hopefully I'll have it all posted by Monday at the latest. But please start thinking if you are at all interested in a brand new Euro LX 4 I have two that I was paid with in lieu of cash for computer work. These are the last basses that this company will pay me with (money from now on! YES!) instead of a check, so this is the only way to get a brand new gloss black Euro LX Ian Hill or 35" flame maple blue stain (gloss) for $1225 shipped (each, the extra $25 is to help with shipping - I'll cover the rest). Just PM me if you're interested and please give me time to respond over the holiday weekend. But please, please - if you're interested let me know. All of the funds are going straight to medical bills, so it means a lot when someone comes through and takes these off my hands. And this is the last of them ever so...

I again apologize to the gang for pulling a stevappearing act again this past week and 1/2 or so. When my health is crappy, it's really crappy. I don't do the computer, phone, almost complete shut down as I try to sleep my way through the worst of it or until I can take another pill (hate). So I missed a ton and worried my friends and I am sorry for that. Unlike some of my other Spector siblings, I'm chronically ill, but it's not cancer and my life isn't at any immediate risk. It's just painful, frustrating to deal with, and honestly disabling and personally quite embarrassing. Add to that the fact that there's always more surgery coming up every 6-8 months and it just wears on me. I really try not to get too down about it and disconnect, but if you can imagine having the worst belly ache you've ever had in your life, spread it out from just under your rib cage all the way to your groin (automatic $5 penalty for use of the word "groin" in a completely appropriate context - I'll pay at the Nashville GTG) throw in some nausea and vomiting and a bunch of medication, and you'll get close to what a bad day can be like for me. And it's all mechanical - so there's no way to fix anything except to get surgery. And getting cut ends up making more scar tissue grow back which causes more obstructions which causes the pain and then, inevitably, surgery again.

These past few weeks have been really bad and I am going to end up having surgery in February most likely, in January if I can, but it will depend on how much worse it gets. All of the major b-days, holidays and other family get together/vacationy times of the year for my family is always October through January, so I try to put off surgery so that I don't ruin things for my family. If it's an emergency obviously I'd deal with it accordingly and just feel guilty later, but I feel like I have to put so much on my family as it is, that if I can avoid a surgery during my family's "busy season" I do so that I don't take away from everyone's good time any more than I already have for the past 40 years.

And that was what I was trying to get around to (yes, I am going to sleep before driving in a few hours - I promise): I hit 40 last Sunday and honestly didn't even remember that it was my birthday until I stared getting all the great notes and texts and calls and messages, etc. from my friends here in the club. I'm very much one of those "stealth b-day" people who never tells anyone when their b-day is. It isn't because I'm afraid of getting older, it's just that I don't give it a lot of thought anymore as I'm usually physically struggling around this time of year, so... age is kind of the last thing on my mind. But you guys really brought a lot of light into my week and it really did mean a lot, so thank you for all of the well wishes. That was truly and genuinely a tremendous gift to get from so many of the good people I've met since getting into these awesome basses.

Sorry for the overly long message, but I wanted you to know how much I mean it when I say I wish you all the best of Thanksgivings and a good extended holiday break (for those of you lucky enough to get them).
Hey Bass Brother! I am definitely interested in the Blue! Forward pics , when you can. Thanks! Have a Safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Turkey Day All!

I received the first part of my special ordered Spalted Euro yesterday...

My Spalted truss rod cover for my Euro that I ordered from my Luthier. It came way ahead of my Euro..Least I have something to stare at in the meantime. It turned out purdy

Thanks! I just wanted to join when my collection was finished... I still need a Blue with a " non-maple" fretboard and Ill be through! At least until SAS hits again. I have three Sadowskys, a Mike Lull and two Warwick Streamer Stage II 's ( a 4 and a 5) plus the proverbial Fender Jazz and P basses. I'm selling a Pearl White Ibanez Musician and an old Allen Woody to get some funds to track down my elusive Blue Spector.....THEN I'll be through for a while..... well, I'll try to control myself. Y'all know how it is with Spectors!!

I did reply to him, I hope! I'm not sure about the forum vs. thread vs. PM " thing" and how it works. Hopefully, he'll be able to forward pics and we can " do a deal"! Thanks for the heads up!
