Thanks again Lee!! You rock! | That's awesome Chris! Glad you're discovering the gk mb tone too. I wish I'd given gas a shot way before a few months ago.
And Lee, that's just cool man. And with your giant pancake tower of amps, you shouldn't miss it too much, right? I think you still have something that would cover small rooms gigs and 'shedding, but its been a while since I've seen that pic you've got...

Sam always tells me when I come over that he wishes he didn't have a nickel allergy since he would love to use them also. He even commented to me when Joe went over his house recently how much he loved the tone since he had them on his tangerine forte.

They really sounded amazing.
And remember with the Spector Nickels the E and B string are tapered to fit the Euro bridges.
And Lee is strictly using Spector Nickels now and he also had a bit of a string addiction like I did.
I know he went through 3-4 different brands recently before settling on the them. Quote:

I am happy with my Dunlop Steels too.
The tension on the Spector Nickels will not be as good for you since you drop tune and Dunlop makes that Special XH Drop set.

I need your advice on flats, have you ever tried them with Spectors? I'm not big fan of flats but I'm looking for some strings to strung my fretless with. The reason I'd try flats is that I don't want roundwounds to "eat" fretless fingerboard. I know that flats won't damage it as rounds. When I had my fretless Pedulla Buzz I strung it with La Bella black nylon tape wounds, but although the feel was perfect the tone was dull and actually, "flat" (maybe because of bass itself not strings?)... If there's any other options apart from flats that you would recommend for fretless?

So here's my thoughts. I would test 4 amps through one particular cabinet using a Spector Euro with DCs and the USA Spector 18 volt pre. I would prefer my Bergantino NV215. For fun I could also try a passive pbass, since I have no passive Spector.
Ideally that is what I would do. It involves going to storage and getting two road cases of equipment and bringing them back to my living room (wife isn't going to be happy) and taking the time of running them all through various tests.......volume......candle test.....etc. And then write notes based on my ears and what I hear. So setup time is going to take a while and I WILL do it............but it wont be tomorrow with my two fulltime jobs! LOL
So.......I will do this test/battle/amp head war over Christmas break which starts December 20th for me..........so expect something that week! Ok? I WANT to do this because I personally WANT to KNOW.......yippee! : hiding:
