So who knows... perhaps next week. For the record, I ordered it in February. But part of my consulting deal is that I've also agreed that other basses will take priority over mine. And that's the way it should be.

PJ Rubal waited 2 years to get his NS-230, 30th Anniversary Bass for this exact reason.

I appreciated the call from PJ asking if I'd mind waiting this morning. And of course my answer was, "not at all" I mean, I have three beautiful USA Spectors here to play already. I can wait for number 4.

I am about to be down to 2 USA models for the moment... my BOB-4 is going back to Greg Felise, who it was originally built for. I agreed to sell it back to him (for the same amount he sold it to me for, of course).

And I'm jamming on the Bass Central website, hoping to get it finished in the next week so I can finally collect and get my gloss black NS-2 from them. And that bass will be my every-day Spector.
Thank you Patrick! You're a great guy!

Sorry for the digression folks. But I just watched the Walking Dead mid-season closer and was drinking one, looked at the name, looked at what I was watching, and in typical Steve fashion, started laughing my ass off.
Buwahahahahaha!!! Sweet line Steve, I love it! the walking dead show is awesome!
Yeah Chris, vitamin B/C are water solvable, which means, whatever your body doesn't use, you'll urinate it out. Pretty hard to overdose on either vitamin. B vitamin for energy, C for repairing your cells, skin and building your immunity system. Stuff that robs your body of these is Caffeine, cigs and stress. Sorry folks for the derail! Carry on!

Got my Spector Comfort strap from Jaymi!!

sadly I think I have an odd issue with it...

The strap is in perfect condition... how ever like the rest of my straps...

its too long... I said it....

I just lost all metal credit

However with my new NS6XL I find myself wearing it higher and I will need to continue my search for another strap

I know this is a long-shot but if anyone can point me in the direction of some of these Schaller M4s with the downwards screw mounts, in black, that'd be awesome. I really don't want to have to drill out the headstock on my new-to-me Euro4.

Here's a quick shot of what I'm after in black:

Well, I couldn't fight it any longer, it's a NBD! ... I've been looking a long time for just the right Spector. Something that's a clear departure from my other Spectors (dual humbucker/BT layout in my Rex5 and PJ/tonepump in my 4LX). I really like how each of them are voiced but I wanted to add a final one to the mix with the sound that only a Jazz layout can get. After trying and looking at (read that as drooling over) a number of basses I found what I hoped was the perfect fit. A new Woodstock USA NS2 Special Edition Walnut body burl top bolt on with Jazz pickups and an OBP-3 preamp. It just arrived via UPS today and all I can say is, I don't think I could have made a better choice for what I was looking for. This thing just sings so sweet and was perfect right out of the box. Here she is, #10 out of 14 made...

of course the others will have to move over a bit and give this new one some serious playing time.

Thanks, I'm really lovin how it plays and sounds. It's an agressive Jazz with tons of bark and punch if you want it or relatively mild mannered for those times when you want to lay back in the mix or do some mellow chords and harmonics. The pauoferro fretboard is nice and fast and the neck doesn't feel any different in size than my Euro 4LX.
Here's a shot of the walnut back...

Looking for advice from other Spector officianados. I have a NS 95 and was thinking of replacing the existing circuit for a tone pump. Good idea or is it a similar sound to what I have? I was thinking of getting a euro 5 or 6, but budget is a huge issue right now so $99 on the tone pump looked like a better option. Also I'd like to second the call for Schaller M4s with the 90 screw mounts. Dang things break after a bit, already have gone through 3 of the 4 in the last set I had to special order

What did the NS95 have stock?? I'm looking to potentially replace my TonePump with something more akin to what the NS-2 sounds like.

Here's a question that pops into my head from time-to-time.
Some of Spector's endorsing artists choose to play Legends or Performers.
Some of these people are big names, or are touring all over the world (Red Jane, the dude from Staind, etc).
What would drive an artist to use an "inferior" instrument when they have options like the Euro or USAs available to them?

That's a good question. Maybe they started out on the legends pre endorsement and are just sticking with what they know?

Just IMO.

I am a huge fan of the trimpot tonepumps. What style do you play these days? I only use TPs in my basses at the moment. It is the best value on a preamp in my opinion.

Well actually you can look at it in the following thread, loose wire goes where?

I was having issues with "fuzz" bass sound and was worried it might be electronics related but a proper application of contact cleaner on the pots and soldering the connections from the gain pots seems to have solved it. Honestly I'm not usually a diy electronics guy but it was an easy enough fix.

I had a Legend 4 when I was at the height of my playing in college. I was playing 3-4 nights a week plus rehearsals in several different ensembles (marching band, salsa, steel drum, jazz)! It was a fantastic bass and super light weight!!!! I wish I hadn't sold mine.

If it works for them, then I say go for it! They are great basses. Also, some just prefer BO vs neck thru.
