You can really see it too well, but he actually had it signed by Norm Stockton the bassist for Lincoln Brewster. Never took the sticker off or removed the signature. Any how, the sticker I saw the exact same one on EBay as an "inlay sticker" for the fretboard. I found this one which is identical. http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewi...id=94785543095
Ps: thanks for the compliments I love both of them. They sound similar but completely different if that makes any sense.

I don't run a "used bass business." For a while, a business paid me in gear for my computer work. I almost always chose a Spector because I knew I could sell it fairly quickly and for a lot less than retail or street prices. I sold them to get the money that I would rather have been paid with for the work I did, but that's what the company offered me, so I took it and then sold them to get paid and therefore be able to continue to pay off medical debt. If I had been paid in cash, it would have been simpler, and finally a few months ago, they agreed to start paying me in cash. I had two basses left that I had been paid with that I still had to sell: the 435LX and the Ian Hill. The 35LX went and after the Ian Hill goes, I will not be getting paid in gear anymore by them or anyone else because I'm tired of having to go out and flip to get paid. I have changed my policy for my IT work that I only get paid in cash - no more barter. I sold all of those other basses "as new" but did not make promises about warranty stuff after finding out early on that since I was not a Spector dealer, it would basically just count as me selling a used bass, even though it was in brand new condition.
I never sold them for much more than $1200 and always included extras like upgraded pickups and preamps, and even provided pro set ups and fresh strings. Yes, that meant losing some money, but I wanted everyone who bought from me to be happy not just with the price, but the way they were treated by me. I've never had anyone tell me that I screwed them over, and I sure as hell never overcharged - I always UNDERCHARGED for everything I sold/sell.
I've been a productive member of this community and have helped my fellow bass players as much as I can, with no expectation of getting credit or thanks for it. I just like helping and it brings a lot of joy into my life. To be called out in public like this is pretty upsetting, and honestly I'm just very sad and hurt. I haven't done any of the things that I am accused of in your post. And if I have done something wrong, I feel that contacting me in a PM, or phone or email is much more appropriate than posting an attack against my character in this public venue where I have tried to be a positive part of the community and make as positive a contribution as I can.
If anyone is upset with me or feel that I have treated them poorly in any way, please let me know so that I can make up for it and apologize. If I have done something wrong, I'd like to make up for it. But please have the decency to contact me personally on the phone for a conversation, not a public posting where there is no chance for dialogue or actual person-to-person communication.
Thanks,
Steve Quote:

There's nothing wrong with that. But you should stop playing coy. That's what gets people offended.
You have a very distinct and predictable pattern so the "who me?" thing only insults people's intelligence.
Just keeping it real. I'm a very nice guy but don't mistake that for stupidity. And shame on you if you think you can play me.
And no. I don't endorse your used bass business. Yours or Smadders. You guys want to get basses in trade and sell them for a profit... great. But understand that if those sales go south or there's a problem with the bass you've just sold, nice comments and "hey buddy, buddy" isn't going to get me to lift a finger to help you.
And please don't pretend that because we talk or I did a video with you that I'm OK with your used bass business. I'm fine with it so long as you don't try to take advantage of the trust and fellowship that's been built on this board.
For the record I do not endorse or support what you do as a private party regarding the trading, buying or selling of basses.
So please do not associate me with your shenanigans.
If you were wondering why there's a bunch of people on this board that are wary of you; this is why.
Everyone here already sees that you're going to trade something that's worth less than what you're getting and you're going to sell or trade what you get for more than you have in it.
Horse trading, wheeling/dealing, there's a lot of things you can use to describe it. And again, there's nothing wrong with it so long as you're up front about it.
Let's stop playing the games and just be out in the open about it. That way everyone is on the same page.
You're an opportunistic predator. And hey, most really good salesmen are. But there are a lot of people here on this board that look to one another for fairness and trust. Which is why I think you're going to find fewer and fewer people here that are willing to entertain your not-so-upfront sales techniques.
Just keeping it real. I've worked really hard, as have many others... to cultivate a sense of fellowship and brotherhood on this board. And people who would take advantage of that trust for their own personal gain disgust me.
And I'm not going to just keep quiet about it. |

I for one would like to ask if you are ok? The reason I ask is because this kind of post is not characteristic of the person I have seen post and even "champion" on this club forum. I remember some threads back you had a situation with a member in the club and I thought you handled it very differently and very professionally. I hope that you are fine, I understand anger and frustration for given situations, I've just seen you represent yourself with a less curt, direct decorum. I'm not trying to get involved or aggravate, I just realize that when people change their behavior and tone, and are out of their "normal" character, things can be difficult. I only ask out of concern, forgive me if you find my question ridiculous

I think I said, there's nothing wrong with buying telling trading. Just do not involve me in it. You had an upset customer last week overthe tuning of a bass. And your posts looked to if were pointing your fingers at the Spector website. The buyer was thinking the website was confusing and he'd been mislead. And you invite him to contact me to fix the issue. It confused the issue. Which is in a private party sale.... it's between the private parties. Was someone done wrong? Not as long as you make your customer happy. And that's for you to do. Just don't involve me. You sell something as this or that... it needs to be what you say. that's all.

Also, what's the store price (not MSRP) for a Forte5 or a Euro5LX in that gorgeous matte trans black nowadays?
I'd LOOOVE to know how much I have to save for one.

I'd LOOOVE to know how much I have to save for one. | According to this website (about 15 basses up from the bottom) a Euro 5LX matte trans black will run about $2300 without a case. I'd suspect you could ask for a case to be thrown into the deal or maybe get a $100 off. But $2300 looks like about it for a new one. http://www.basscentral.com/spector/euro_th.shtml |

Back issues are no joke, my father has been dealing with back and knee issues and has had multiple surgeries over the past two years. That constant pain can really work on someone. I watched my father go from having a very laid back personailty to having the temper of a disturbed nest of killer bees with a fuse that might have been a nano second! No joke! He went nuts on my wife in my house on my daughters 4th birthday...........over something tiny, the damage took me over 6 months to repair and was pure torment for me personally. I feel for you my friend........that pain can make things crazy.............Good luck and god speed on your surgery. I hope it works out well for you!
