| | | | hey guys, just wanted to post a pic of my spector and ask a spector question. below is my NS-2A. as you can see it is translucent red , so you can really see the beautiful ash grain on the body wings. you can also clearly see the 3 pieces of the neck. i replaced the stock electronics with emg pickups and the emg tone circut. the bass is a monster. absolutely awesome. i keep it in the same room as the rest of my bases, and around the middle of november, when the heat came on, i had to adjust the necks on all of the basses on my bass rack. all except the spector. it didnt move! granted all the rest of the basses have a one piece neck, but whatever the reason, the spector is still playing beautifully. its had a fret dressing and it plays just as good (and sounds better) than my nordstrand. best part is that i live in neptune NJ (im sure some of you know what that means!) and i was personal friends with one of stuart's business partners, so that bass came to me directly from the warehouse, free! i never asked for it. one day the dude just surprised me with it, and now with the electronics upgrade, its one of the better basses that ive played. super stable neck, great fret job, and now the emg tone.
anyway, on to my question. which spector has the best access to the 24th fret? it looks like the blue one in the post a few up from this is decent. access on mine leaves alittle to be desired.

I'm at work right now so I cant post a pic but check out the Spector site under the Professional series basses. The Rex5 is a neck thru (Tbird style) body with a sweet cutout on the lower bout and a thin neck. I love it! |

As Mr.Bassie720 just posted. He is right on, this is what this forum is all about.
I come to this club because I wanted a Spector since I was 14 and I now live, breathe and bleed Spector and I try to help and share this love with others.
Since I spent 3 hours, I will just summarize and say, just a few things instead and do it with some humor.
1st, JPS is a gentleman and I support his comments 98%. He made 2 small mistakes, thus the 98%. But trust me, he had legit reasons for the comments so lets put them behind us now.
I was starting out my “novel post” by saying that I have been told by a few members of this forum that besides being the Spector Pimp I am viewed as the Spector forum Godfather.
Thus, my avatar, isn’t my Rose pretty? Also fitting, that the Godfather is standing next to the bassist for the THE MOB NYHC in the photo above
As the Spector forum Godfather, I demand this club returns to peace and once again and becomes the joyful sharing of Spector lovers from all over the world.
Please don’t make this go any further or my novel will be posted and it wont be pretty like the Rose in my avatar. | I have never met Sam in real life, but I consider him a good friend. I hope that one day, I will meet him in person.
I know some of the story here and will say this: differences happen, it's how you let them affect you that really matter. With that being said, this club has had a pretty negative vibe and that's not what we've been about and not who we are in nature.
I currently don't own any Spectors (I have had a few) but I do appreciate the comradery that is displayed even to me in this club as a non-Spector owner. The Spector brotherhood is just as great of a buy in as the basses are.
Here's to peace!

Let me know if the CD is going to be at any online retailers, or I can go the digital route.
Hoping to have a 5-minute teaser clip up of our record in the next few days. |

Great job Donny - there are some killer chops and great Spector tone on this one! | I too am enjoying the new Defy Tolerance CD! I talked to Donny about it and the whole thing is Spector! Here's wishing brother Donny well and I wish for great things for you and your band this Christmas season and the upcoming year!
And as far as that goes I hope that everyone in the club has a grand holiday season and gets to spend quality time with friends and family, and if you are the religous type, say a few prayers for our world and extended families!

| | Registered User Endorsing Artist: Spector Basses | | Join Date: Oct 2010 Location: Vancouver BC | | Hello everyone!
I've tried to skim through the posts and catch up, but this crappy connection I'm using ends up buggering up all the time.
I'm still in Santiago Chile. My original plan was to go to Southern Patagonia and do some mountain trekking down there, but our Easter Island trip was financially devastating and I've changed my plans to come back home to Vancouver on the 26th. Major bummer, but it was a great trip regardless.
That said, I have also spent my deposit for a new custom NS-2 I was planning...so that has been pushed to a later time period.
*Thanks Sam for giving my GAS by the way with some random NS-2 photos while I'm trying not to GAS. A Pimp is always a Pimp!.... Argh! *
Bummer turning into good news; my band was picked by one of the recording schools in Vancouver to have one of their students record us as part of their final project! So on Jan 15th or 16th we're heading into the studio to record a new song which I am super excited about.
In addition to having my Forte set to BEAD, I am now thinking that I will also have my Brooklyn set up that way so I could have a slight tone option. New US9V and old US9V. It's just that I am loving my Brooklyn so much, I'd love to have it recorded on a song professionally!
If I don't get a chance to post again, I shall wish you all a happy anything you celebrate and a great new year. Many new great Spector stories and experiences for everyone!!
***I've been trying to upload a video...something cool I did from Easter Island but alas, it crashes my connection every time I try to upload. |

| | | | All it took was mr bassie and Lima's posts to remind me of how many awesome people are in this club.
Also, when my teacher saw my Spector for the first time he told me that he has NS-2 number three-hundred-and-something that Stuart ever built. I have to get him to let me play it!

That same friend was responsible for my acquiring my Forte-4 at a fraction of the normal price. This friend could have taken advantage of the trust that we had built up here. He could have bought it himself and sold it to me for more and made a profit. He did not do this. Would not do this. I would not do it to him either. Making money is a wonderful thing. Be transparent about it. This was a great place to indulge our passion for these basses. My not being here is not going to change any of the wonderful relations that I made. I wish you guys all the best in your musical endeavors.
I know I've posted this picture before. Next to me is the friend that I referred to in what I just wrote about. I am holding my Spector Forte-4. When this bass came up for sale, Sam reached out to me at 2AM because he wanted me to have a real chance at being able to buy it. No ulterior motive. Just one Spector player helping another. There are plenty of other people here that I can name, they know who they are. Good people that share their knowledge and experience. Simply because they love music and Spector basses. | Great basses and good guys, here. That's why I'm here. And when (because I'm optimistic) the Spector US 9v pre's start to turn up again, I'll be taking a road trip down to the Isle of Staten to have an audience with the Godfather himself and his epic soldering skills.

| | The NS-2a guy | | Join Date: Sep 2011 Location: Decatur, Alabama | | | I'm sure those guys will work it out and they'll do it in private. We're not gonna hear about it again until they have worked it out. Thats the beauty of this club, and I feel great about that.
Sam is the Spector Pimp with special powers. He has contacted me out of the blue more than once regarding basses I was seriously considering. Not similar basses, the ACTUAL bass, the one with THAT serial number. His long distance mind reading of a guy he doesn't really know is kinda creepy.
Sam is the Spector Godfather with special powers. When I bought my first Spector and joined this club over a year ago, It was Sam that set the tone for this club. Somehow, with a post every once and while, he pours positive vibes into a small corner of the web. That's a big deal. The world is a negative place. I drop my kids off to their little elementary school and there is a armed police officer there (to make parents feel better). Everything on Facebook, Twitter is hurtful and insulting because thats where people can express who they are. I try to think what Sam would say and I try to say that. On a good day, I'm 30% as positive as Sam.
I'm not leaving. Its over and those guys will work it out. Even on the worst day, this club is the best spot on the web.
Now I'm gonna play a well made Spector bass, send positive Spector vibes to Chris, then get to work.

Somehow, that seems to diminish and certainly discourage a whole line of intellectual discourse on comparing the pros and cons of other instruments as we feel they stack up to our personal favorites: Spectors. Those kind of discussions usually tend to be respectful of all parties who get involved with them, and often provide insights many of us may never have known or thought about. I think having discussions on this thread about what people think about Warwicks (or any other bass creator) compared to Spector (in the few places that's applicable) is a natural place as any for that kind of discourse. Especially now that Spector is on full throttle in making the Coda, doesn't it make sense that we discuses the pros and cons as the Coda compares to other "super-jazzers"?
We're all adults here. We should be able to have an intellectual, non-personally insulting talk about comparing and contrasting Spectors with other brands.
Unless someone wants to tell me why this is a bad idea, sure sign of the apocalypse, etc.
I'm not saying that the thread should not be mostly about Spectors, but a part of appreciating them is being able to compare and contrast their quality, tone and beauty to other basses of similar pricing bracket.
If I'm in the wrong I sure no one will have a problem telling me to **** off since that seems to be the wonderful holiday season mood the thread has been in over the past several days.
Or maybe I'm just still pissed that a bunch of adults spent so much time carving new orifices for each other with no one at all being adult enough to step forward and say "sorry, I went too far and while I meant what I said, I had no right to rip you in a public forum and should have taken our dispute to a PM for resolution."
And I'm not naming names because a bunch of us did it and calling out a bunch of folks isn't going to do anything to help anyone heal.
But we're better than this petty ****, aren't we? I thought we were. Remember when we all got together to help give Chris the surprise of his life? I miss that attitude, environment, vibe, whatever you want to call it. I miss it a lot. | +1 Steve... One of the problems in the past with opening our Spector forum for talking about brand XYZ is that you open the door for non-members that want to come into our house that aren't members here and they go on and on about how great and marvelous their brand X is and try to take our thread hostage. Of course we end up politely asking them to leave our club thread.
Myself, personally, do not mind some comparison of brands XYZ, as long as its being compared with Spectors. As well as talking about bass rigs, stomp boxes etc... As long as you don't take the thread hostage.
Peace my brothers/sisters!

I'm a fan of Spector basses but more than that, I'm a fan of the electric bass. I still like fender and others.
Warwick makes models that look similar spectors, but they play and sound like Warwick, not Spector. The Coda plays like a spector, not fender...etc. Some are sore about a business decision Warwick made in the 80's, it was legal what they did. No one was jailed or sanctioned over it. Morally.... questionable, but legal. The laws were rapidly changing during that era and they did what they what they to skirt the laws and make the most money (which is what businesses do). The purpose of a business is to make money, and Warwick has ran their business better than Spector over the last 30 years. I see 10 times as many Warwicks than Spectors on TV, magazines, music stores etc. I think Spector makes better moral decisions and as a customer I value that. And maybe over the next 30 years, that will cause them to pass Warwick on a business level.
What Kramer did to Spector was 100 worse than what Warwick did.
As for an apology, I suggest we move on. Bringing it up again isn't good for the club. Misunderstandings happen, all one can do is do everything right and everything will be fine in the long run. If he feels like he should apologize, he will. | Well said Clearwave!
