+1 to all 3! I was just playing a Reliant K song,"Between you and Me", yesterday! Third Day is at the top of my list of CCM bands

Sam is the Spector Pimp with special powers. He has contacted me out of the blue more than once regarding basses I was seriously considering. Not similar basses, the ACTUAL bass, the one with THAT serial number. His long distance mind reading of a guy he doesn't really know is kinda creepy.

Sam is the Spector Godfather with special powers. When I bought my first Spector and joined this club over a year ago, It was Sam that set the tone for this club. Somehow, with a post every once and while, he pours positive vibes into a small corner of the web. That's a big deal. The world is a negative place. I drop my kids off to their little elementary school and there is a armed police officer there (to make parents feel better). Everything on Facebook, Twitter is hurtful and insulting because thats where people can express who they are. I try to think what Sam would say and I try to say that. On a good day, I'm 30% as positive as Sam.

I'm not leaving. Its over and those guys will work it out. Even on the worst day, this club is the best spot on the web.

Now I'm gonna play a well made Spector bass, send positive Spector vibes to Chris, then get to work.
I agree, hopefully Donnie and Lee come back, Lee's been MIA for a bit now.

PSS - It's my birthday today, my wife made me very happy with consent to buy a Spectorcore once I find one I like. You guys made me equally happy with all the love and brotherhood on this site. Keep it up!
Happy Birthday and check your PM.

I sent you a few Spectorcore leads.

Just curious, what other basses do you gig/jam with along with your Spector and why? Note: "a second Spector" is a given for most of you, so lets keep to non Spector alternatives.

Lately, I am digging doing gigs with my Spector Forte 5 (usually sets 1 and 3) and My MTD 535 for set 2. Fairly different tonal ranges on these basses and I use the Spector for harder tunes and (maybe) surprisingly, for oldies and Eagles-type stuff. The dual H Spector can really nail a Precision if EQed right.
My Coda 5 DLX is my main bass...my backup bass is a newly acquired MIM Fender Precision Matt Freeman Sig. 4 string.

A DAY @ GC!

Took a drive to GC today with my Coda 5 in hand, to test out some thunder making cabinets. First time I've actually got to play thru an Ampeg 4 Pro! I first played thru an Ampeg 610 Classic, not bad, it brings on the thunder really good, but, not like the next cab that I plugged into, Ampeg 410 Classic. After messing around and dialing the EQ, the Coda started pealing the face skin off all that dared to walk by! lol Truthfully! I've not played a jazz bass that sounds this awesome as the Coda! The salesman insisted that I try the Mini Markbass 8". Blah!!! Weak! It couldn't handle the frequencies the B string was throwing at it. Some of the B string notes barely registered. I tried a big TC Electronic 15" combo 500W, not for me, not enough bottom end for my liking. Salesman said most customers have the same reaction. Lastly I wanted to find a lightweight portable combo bass rig that would hold up to the B string on my Coda 5, "Big Blue". I sighted an Acoustic B20 with a clearance sign of $99.00, hmmm. I plugged into it and laid Big blues best heavy, mid and high frequencies into it. The 12" speaker took it like a champ! No popping, burping, crackling and any other nasty noises that don't belong out of a cab. So I checked out with a new bass practice rig and a new found love for the Coda 5 DLX. You would not believe how many people that stopped by while I was playing to ask me," What make of Bass is that"! "Wow"! "That sounds amazing"! "That is one gorgeous bass"! "Whoa! Look at that color"! A young girl walking by with her mom said,"mommy, that bass is pretty"! Lol What a fun Spector day it has been. As I was getting ready to leave the salesman, a bass player himself, invited me to come back even if its just to jam.

Thanks guys! Yes, I'm fairly sure it's the tonepump since there aren't any center detents on the bass and treble and when I back them off all the way it doesn't sound quite flat (since the TP cuts at wierd amounts when turned all the way off). I didn't think I'd like the TP at all actually, but I'm pleasantly surprised by it. PJ and Stuart really know what they're doing!
One of the previous owners re wired it with a master vol and a pan pot though. I personally prefer this to the vol/vol setup, but that's just me. I freaking love how great this bass sounds!

Sounds like an awesome GC trip! If that coda sounds as sexy as it looks you've got a sweet Marvin Gaye- sounding machine!

I agree the B20 is extremely surprising, got one on sale a while back and I use it for travel, lightweight, small, and huge tone for 20 watts in a 12" speaker! Easily the best small combo for the $$

edit: just plugged in the B20 again and fired it up and man I cannot believe how much hot input this thing can handle with my NS20005 even killing it with the B!

Really? The b20 is that significant? I've always overlooked them!
