That's great to know! Thanks! How long have you had your B20? A little bit at a time I kept throwing more & more Spector juice at it and the rig kept asking for more! "Come on! Is that all you got?!?!" Lol Hmmm...am I starting a trend here? All my bass rigs start with the letter A.

YES! And don't sell it short anymore. I'd love to had tried some Aguilar rigs but the didn't have any. I'm going back and try some Orange rigs. I love the looks of them...besides being a real cool color, which they come in black also, they look really well built.

I already have a good-quality bass, and I'm not looking to replace it for a while. But I'm going to start saving up once I get a decent amp for practicing with a drummer, and I've got my eye on Spectors, among others. What's the most cost-effective option for getting the basic "Spector sound"? Do the Legend Series work for that, or should I look for used in another series?
For a small budget in mind, the legend is awesome of a bass. I owned a legend 4, would of loved to kept it, as it was my first Spector.
The Performers are great basses also. You can buy used from $100-185.

who has the contact info for that guy that makes the brass nuts? I need one to try some heavier strings... maybe two. Thanks!

I highly recommend the B20. If it can take a beating from a Spector 5 string, it'll hold up nicely with fours!

If you're going with the Micromark check out the used ones at GC and possibly save a bunch of money. Even used they are over priced for what they are (you could buy 4 new B20 combos for the price of one used Micromark) but they are darn nice.
That's for sure! The mini 8" Markbass was priced over $400+!

That is pretty cool! Wonder how it'd handle a Spector bass?

I am really impressed with the Ampeg BA-112 combo rig. I bought one earlier this year off eBay and it sounded great! But I was getting cluttered with rigs so my church has it now. So I still get to play thru it at least!

I first played thru an Ampeg 610 Classic, not bad, it brings on the thunder really good, but, not like the next cab that I plugged into, Ampeg 410 Classic. After messing around and dialing the EQ, the Coda started pealing the face skin off all that dared to walk by! lol Truthfully! I've not played a jazz bass that sounds this awesome as the Coda! The salesman insisted that I try the Mini Markbass 8". Blah!!! Weak! It couldn't handle the frequencies the B string was throwing at it. Some of the B string notes barely registered. I tried a big TC Electronic 15" combo 500W, not for me, not enough bottom end for my liking. Salesman said most customers have the same reaction. Lastly I wanted to find a lightweight portable combo bass rig that would hold up to the B string on my Coda 5, "Big Blue". I sighted an Acoustic B20 with a clearance sign of $99.00, hmmm. I plugged into it and laid Big blues best heavy, mid and high frequencies into it. The 12" speaker took it like a champ! No popping, burping, crackling and any other nasty noises that don't belong out of a cab. So I checked out with a new bass practice rig and a new found love for the Coda 5 DLX. You would not believe how many people that stopped by while I was playing to ask me," What make of Bass is that"! "Wow"! "That sounds amazing"! "That is one gorgeous bass"! "Whoa! Look at that color"! A young girl walking by with her mom said,"mommy, that bass is pretty"! Lol What a fun Spector day it has been. As I was getting ready to leave the salesman, a bass player himself, invited me to come back even if its just to jam.
Sounds like a good day. Good luck with this new combo!!

I've read so many great reviews, but all of them talk about how loud it is. Can it be at low volumes and still maintain the tone? I played on one at GC last week and it seemed ok, but its always hard to tell in a large space versus my basement.
I also have Micromark801, like it too and I don't think you need anything bigger for home practice unless you're not going to practice with a drummer at home If you ask Can it (CMD121) be at low volumes and still maintain the tone? I first say why you need lower volumes from bigger rig if you already have smaller combo of the same manufacturer that can easily handle it? Before I had Markbass head LM2 and their Club121 cabinet which are together pretty much the same as their CMD121 combo you are speaking about, and I came to conclusion their tone on lower volume is a bit dull and flat...I didn't like them at all at home untill I took them to a small club gig and....wow!!! It only sounds good if you let it pump some power out. After that I realized that I'd rather leave the head but buy 2x10" instead of 1х12" cab. And then I bought Markbass Traveller 102P cabinet. Light, compact and loud...and PUNCHY!

Anton ....I used a LM2 and two 102p cabs for year! pretty darn punchy and a lot of tone variants with those two filters markbass is known for! I never had any problems with them either! Quality stuff

Strange that you're comparing 50Watt home practice combo (which is IMHO the best compact home practice amp I've ever tried) to 500Watt combos and even 610 and 410 cabs. Micromark 8" is only a small 50Watt home practice amp and has to be compared only with similar equipment IMHO. I used it with my BEAD-tuned 435LX and it handled low B...again, at home

+1 that's why I decided to keep LM2 and add 102P! Yeah, quality is superb with them.

I miss that rig....very modular with the two 210 cabs. Spectors would sound awesome through it.....I wonder if Jeff has sold his combo? I replaced that rig with aguilar 112's and a thunderfunk 550B. it sounds great too

I love my Rex5 holoflash. It constantly changes colors as the lights hit it at different angles. Not sure if that would be as welcome in a country setting, if so great, if not check out this link. Music-go-round has a Rex5 in a color I've never seen before, very very unique and will probably get snapped up quick.

For a practice amp I really really love my Ampeg B50R. 50 watts and a 12 inch speaker. That little thing just kils

I think you can replace the standard EMG humbuckers in a Rex with an EMG humbucker shaped P/J set. That would be sweet, although I'd try the Rex stock first, I so in love with mine I'd never change the electronics (humbuckers/BT preamp). I actually like the sound I get out of my Rex5 more than what I get out of my Euro 4LX with non trim tonepump. I plan on yanking the tonepump and inserting a 9volt preamp or possibly and OPB-2 4 knob in it's place.

I think Sonny had PJ replacements in his Rex. Maybe he will chime in on how that worked for him? I think Grendle has that particular bass? Maybe he will chime in about it? Maybe my memory is wrong? Lol
