Cancer Schmanser, I got my priorities strait.

Many thanks to all!
Dave | And some old friends too. Hello Mr. Dave! Nice to see you here.
Hey everyone! This is Mr. Dave Fowler. He is an amazing bassist who has one of those careers that probably most all of us wish we could have.
He's been a successful recording/touring/session bassist in Nashville for almost 30 years, working with artists such as Dottie West, Lorrie Morgan, Tracy Lawrence, Collin Raye, Dolly Parton, Billy Ray Cyrus and many, many more.
If you visit the Spector Bass website, that big banner at the top of the page that talks about "How to make a living as a bassist" Bass Clinics... This is the man that teaches those clinics.
A true Spector friend who is also one of the main reasons the Kramer Style NS-5 model is coming back. Dave got the very first one produced.
Everyone, we are really honored and fortunate to have him here.

I've tried them myself, used them on the NS-2JA-R I used to own. They work really well. They "sort" of look like real inlays. The main problem being the broken 12th fret stickers.
The B.O.B. (for Bolt on Bass) had a Jazz Style body, like the Coda, but a little more contoured and angular. It did come in a single pickup 4-string and 5-string model and then a dual pickup 4-string and 5-string model. Of all 4 styles only 150 models total were made.
The BOB-4, which I have one, was like the Forte, no neck markers at all. I have number 019.
Actually, I own the ONLY BOB in existence with factory installed Crown Inlays. Done years after the fact when the original owner had sent the neck back to Stuart for a re-fret, he asked if Stuart would add MOP Crown inlays and Stuart agreed.
The BOB was a strange beast. EMG BQC 9v Circuit, Dual EMG DC pups, but packaged like a J-Bass. It was an odd mix of Rock Tone with a Jazz style body and neck.
Also, all of the BOB basses were all made during the SSD period before Stuart had won back the Double-S Trademark and the Spector name. So all of the BOB basses will have the SSD headstock logo and the Stuart Spector Design, LTD Truss Rod Cover.
---------------------
The bass in this add is a NS-2000/5. A nice bass. On par with the NS-2A in quality. A slightly different NS-Body style referred to as the NS-2000 Body. This body is still used today on one model, the SpectorCore.
$500-$600 is at the high end of what I'd pay for one. But if it's in really good condition it should be a really great playing and sounding bass.
It is a 35" scale. You can get more details on it here: http://www.spectorguitars.com/models...tock-asia.html
Under NS-20005 - 3/4 of the way down the page.
And for info on the BOB (my BOB-4 is featured on this page to the left), visit this page: http://www.spectorguitars.com/models/ssd.html

It may just be something that's going away with the new site, but the Spectorbass site has this info: http://www.spectorbass.com/about/model_years_3.html
NS-2000/5 info: An updated version of the NS-95™ Model using the NS-2000™ Body Shape
NS-95 info: 34" scale five-string version of the NS-94™ Model
Hence my confusion on the scale length.
Last question. The spector site has gold Import body hardware available that fits the legend. Will the bridge fit the NS20005??

And if you wanted a USA Bolt-On or something like that, you could always ask PJ Rubal if that's something Stuart would consider as a custom build option.

Still hoping & dreaming that someday I'll be the first club member with an ultraviolet NS-2.
BEM fingerboard with black pearl inlay, or ebony & abalone?
Chrome hardware or gold?
Satin or gloss?
I'd take any combo of the above.....

I'd be thinking gold hardware, gloss and probably the abalone on the BEM.
I've been wanting an NS-6XL in black cherry gloss with an ebony board for some time so that will probably be my first order. After seeing Jeff's beautiful gloss black NS-2, a 35" scale black gloss NS-2 in BEAD is very much on my mind as well. Decisions....time to sell a lot of stuff I don't need anymore! |
