I found those machines a few months ago. Or I should say the person that took them when Kramer failed told me they have them.
But back then Stuart was having to go back to the drawing board. So there are number 1997 models which are called "Transition Models" which feature the traditional Spector markings, but were completed before the official award to Stuart from the courts.
They are pretty cool to have. That guitar has the SSD body, the SSD neck/fingerboard/body joint, but the Spector markings.
In 1998 with the official relaunch of the Spector Brand, Stuart would retool these features, add abalone inlays, and the "Official" start of the Woodstock Era would begin.
The bass in question is in really good shape. | that bass is mighty nice. has the big bridge, great quilt, only thing I wish it had was the rounded fingerboard joint.
I might have to make a move on that thing.

If there's one thing that Beaver and Crew like to do, it's sell basses. So just ask those guys. Quote:

My sincere apologies. I came across that disk today buried in a pile of stuff I'm feeling better and trying to get through and I realized I need to mail you this thing.
So it will get done tomorrow.
Bunk is a heck of a patient guy and a gentleman because he's never mentioned it to me.
I'm sincerely sorry for forgetting it. There's some cool photos on this for you and I could NOT BE happier that you really love that bass.

Someone does need to jump on this.
First, the Doug Wimbish wasn't officially a signature model in 2009. So this far pre-dates that. This is a USA NS-2. So that makes it pretty special.
Then also, I know this from first-hand experience.
The Doug Wimbish Signature Model has a set of features. Change any of them and it's NOT a Doug Wimbish (officially).
So for instance, The Blue Dream has the Doug Wimbish neck. But it has J/J pickups and is blue-black burst.
I asked PJ when I ordered it and he said, "It's just an NS-2JJ with the Wimbish neck." Meaning Stuart wouldn't sign it as an NS-2 Doug Wimbish.
It has to be Ultra-Amber and have the P/J pups.
So for this to be marked as a "Doug Wimbish" and be Peacock Blue (Spector's name for Teal). Wicked.
This is a nice bass any way you slice it.
And it's different.

So I'd check back with them after the beginning of the new year and see how the back-order situation looks then.

At home and at rehearsals, the BT sounds pretty good. Live, my NS-4 (US12V) and Euro (non-trim TP) were absolutely killing, but the CRFM sounded thin, sterile & brittle.
Its amazing what a difference a few hundred more watts & a larger room can make.

| | Fan of the New Orleans Saints | | | | | I've had two experiences with that pre.
1. CRFM 5 with DC's: Terrible. The tone was thin and there was no umph as you described. It didn't cut it in the band setting for me.
2. NS2J-AR with EMG J's: Fantastic sounding. Clear and Powerful! But it was only in my bedroom. Never gigged or in a band situation.

I played the same NS2J-AR in a band setting and sold the bass... it sounded good by itself, but seemed to be timid in the band setting, not too bad I guess, just not as good as the CRFMs. Lets put it this way... I had to use a MXR m80 with some grit to get even close to the CRFM tone (with TP), straight |

Its amazing what a difference a few hundred more watts & a larger room can make. | Thats exactly what I say about those recordings people put on here. Most people say I can't tell much difference. Yes but when you put it through a 4/10, 8/10, 2/15 stack thats when you can tell most.....
