A tonepump would get you better, and the USA 9V is king

The weight of those on basscentral are generally between 10-11 lbs, 5 strings are a bit more. The absolute upper limit for basses for me these days is about 9lbs (my stupid back is like glass) | My former Forte 4 & 5 weight were average for basses. The Forte 5 weighed 10.4#. It had a very nice thin neck. It's hit and miss on the weight. Others weighed more than mine.

Nice thin neck? The neck on my Forte 5 is like a baseball bat compared to my MTD,Modulus and Fenders.

The head's only able to put out around 250 to 300W at this point, but it's filling the rooms well enough.
I want to switch to a PF-410HLF & a PF-115LF, but my ReBop needs the pickups & pre-amp changed, first.
I'm thinking an EMG 40P5 in the neck, 40J in the bridge, and a BQC pre-amp (unless I can find an Aguilar OBP-2/3 used for a reasonable price). I'm leaning more towards the EMG, though, as the new ones allow for easy swapping without soldering.

MF still as the 5 listed for $2775. | Beaver will work with you on the pricing. He will beat prices, at least he has for me in the past and most recently.
Do you find the ForteX's comfortable as compared to the NS body?

I had to use a MXR m80 with some grit to get even close to the CRFM tone (with TP), straight | The CRFM with the BT wasn't missing grit, it was missing BALLS! I was so underwhelmed with it. I loved the look of that bass too...I still miss it.
The NS2JAR had balls in the bedroom but I didn't get to use it in a band situation. Considering that it didn't work in yours is probably a good indication.
EMG just isn't for me. I'll take a Tone Pump any day and would love to try a US9V and US18V.

I found those machines a few months ago. Or I should say the person that took them when Kramer failed told me they have them.
But back then Stuart was having to go back to the drawing board. So there are number 1997 models which are called "Transition Models" which feature the traditional Spector markings, but were completed before the official award to Stuart from the courts.
They are pretty cool to have. That guitar has the SSD body, the SSD neck/fingerboard/body joint, but the Spector markings.
In 1998 with the official relaunch of the Spector Brand, Stuart would retool these features, add abalone inlays, and the "Official" start of the Woodstock Era would begin.
The bass in question is in really good shape. | Patrick, why do they call them Woodstock when the shop is in Saugaties? (Probably spelled wrong)

I have experience with both the us9v and us18 v in euro basses. If you want grind...get the 9volt, if you want power and boom go for the 18 volt. It has more headroom....a more usable treble and hits like a wrecking ball. All just my opinion....
Here's another thought, in a dual guitar band the 9 volt works great and punches through, in a single guitar three piece band the 18 volt fills some sonic room and works great when the single guitarist goes into solo mode. Keep in mind my experience with the 9 volt is with a p/j maple winged euro and the 18 volt is in an newer lx model with DCs. Chops this helps explain a little more in my own personal practical experience.

I'll take a Tone Pump any day and would love to try a US9V and US18V. | I don't have any experience with the CRFM, but I've been using my JA-R alot recently in a classic rock, soul, RnB project I've been doing, and it sounds really good. I'm constantly adjusting it to find the perfect sound, but by favoring the neck pickup it really beefs it up. When I do this, it really can come close to my NS-2s. I do wonder why Spector went BT and not TonePump in these considering they originally had the US9V.
I have to say that after hearing Patrick's NS-2JJ, it makes me want to drop one in my JA-R.

Do you find the ForteX's comfortable as compared to the NS body? | The Forte X is a totally different feel than the NS. The flat body & strap button placement make it a little clumsier. I bought my Forte to sling low & rock away. Not really using it above the 7th fret too much. I do find it a little tougher to move around on stage compared to the NS. With those it's effortless.

But it fits for my metal/hard rock cover band. I like TBirds for this gig but I can't handle the neck dive of Gibsons and the Gibson neck is too long from the body (I.e. very hard to reach the first fret or two). I much prefer the Spector tone for heavy stuff over the Gibson anyways.
If I can't find a used Forte 5X for under $2k, I will have to use my regular Forte 5..... It still looks like a badass metal bass! Sucks to be me, I guess.
