Good stuff. | After buying my first Spector (the Rex5) I realized there was a lot more diversity to these basses than some other brands I've played in the past. So I set out to try and capture the pickup, layout and preamp options with as little overlap as possible. It's a dual humbucker with BT in the Rex5 pro neck thru, a P/J with non trim tonepump in the 4LX neck thru and a J/J with OPB-3 in the USA NS-2J bolt on. My final quest will be a Spectorcore hollowbody with the Humbucker/Piezo and Fishman preamp. I'll probably also replace the nontrim tonepump in the Euro with a 9 volt USA preamp as well. That should just about do it for me (except for maybe that new Stingray pickup beast Spector just released).

It's a dramatic representation of the stellar woodworking and finishing skills at Spector and reminds us that under all that glorious wood is an equally glorious electronics package that helps deliver the signature Spector tone.
Great Pics! Keep em coming.
PS - if you've got any nice pics of any of the series#1 USA special edition NS-2J walnut body bolt on basses post those also, my camera skills and equipment just don't do mine justice. |

Is this a US 9V circuit? Do they fit in the Euro/ReBop cavities?

I also wanted to post an update about the preamp issue I had with this guy. I seem to have worked it out almost entirely just by showing it some love and playing the damn thing. Worked out all the scratchiness in the pots (after a good deoxit), and the hum is now only at the lowest of volumes when I'm not playing, and then is only noticeable in the mellowest of settings. Its likely just a ground issue at my place. The bass in't shielded, though I haven't had many problems when I'm somewhere with modern wiring. It seems to be nothing a good noise gate won't fix.
Anyway, just an update. Cheers.

Love it love love it.
I think I'll go full custom on my next one Have an idea for a finish job that's inspired by Alex Webster's but not so cheesy!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE everything about it Xcept the way the strap button is located on the back of the body where the neck meets it, causing the bass to lean forward a little bit. Has anyone had that button moved to the side/top of the neck? Bass Northwest said they could do that no problem, but I'm a little apprehensive about having them drill into it. I liken it to sending your newborn child in for a painful surgery that may not cure what ills Would anybody recommend that procedure?
