And man what a difference. I didn't realize how mediocre the stock tuners were until I held one of the Gotoh's in one hand and the stock in the other. Admittedly, the heads are a bit bigger so they were inherently heavier but the gearing was just so much more smooth. It was expecting to do battle with redrilling but these are almost a 1:1 replacement, just with better parts. All told, I was done in about 15 minutes. The screw holes are identical. For $45 and change, it's quick and painless.

After 35 hours in transit, it was straight to bed, woke up, set up my amp, put the batteries in the basses and the first note that came out of my Brooklyn was almost orgasmic... SO nice to be back with my basses and playing!!!
Whilst away, I finally got my final piece to my Pedal Board, my 3 loop station and not it is complete!!! |

| | | | Question for my fellow euro owners- what steels do you prefer? I've got slinkys on her right now and it sounded amazing when they still had their zing, but they effectively died fairly quickly. So any recommendations for steels with good life? I'm usually a nickel guy but the euro really sings with steels on her. I'm using heavy gauge (110 E) tuned to D standard fwiw.

I was stuck in a hotel without power in Washington DC after watching the craziest storm I'd ever seen the night before. And Lee tells me that I probably wouldn't be able to get to his place for the downed trees.
I was pretty bummed out. I was looking forward hanging with him.

Third, let's get together on a drop-box upload of the HD footage, and because of the wind-noise, can you do a clean re-recording of exactly what you said, so I can replace the sound-track with a clean one.
And HECK-YEAH! We'll make this an intro for ATS!

ProSteels are pretty nice too but you have to be careful about the length if you have a 35" scale - some of them might not be long enough unless you get the extra long.
Currently, I'm using Circle K's on all my Spectors. They are a mix of nickel and steel which in their words are "not quite as bright as steels and not as ‘scooped’ as nickels. "
I was using Fat Beams for a little while but the CK's sound really great on my Euros to my ears. They have a coupon code for 20% off right now so might be worth a look. |

My white Euro is currently setup for D tuning, & I string it (and all of my other basses) with D'Addario Prosteels, .45 - 1.00 gauge. I find the slightly lighter gauge gives me a better balance of mids & highs with the lows in D tuning, but YMMV.
