Saw them twice in small clubs here in Denver back in the day, and they put on an incredible show. Chris Oliva (RIP) was one the best guitarists I've ever seen, and Johnny Lee absolutely tore it up on his NS-2 basses.

The difference between the Haz Lab and the Tone Pump sold me though....holes are cool! | I should rephrase...It's not the hole that bothers me. It's the knob placement. I don't like having the hole at the bottom with a triangle of knobs above it. I'd rather the hole be in the slot closest to the pickups. So, the way an NS-2 looks stock with 3 knobs, kind of arcing away from the pickups and down toward the jack. Quote:

I'd probably do a 3-way switch, if I could, and install it in between the batteries and the electronics.
Position 1: OFF
Position 2: 9V
Position 3: 18V

Position 1: OFF
Position 2: 9V
Position 3: 18V | I'm not sure if your three way idea would work as the circuit is designed to operate at 18 volts. It is not the same as the us9v. Someone more versed in electronics and the us18v would be able to tell you more. I for one would have no idea why you would want to run the 18 volt circuit at 9 volts....

I was thinking a TonePump with stacked knobs, or a 9V, or any other 3 knob system.

The first band I played in while in college did a Savatage tune (can't remember the name, but the guitar part had a ton of wicked pinch harmonics). We did "Battle Angels" by Sanctuary as well.
What a move - from Savatage to Trans-Siberian Orchestra!

What a move - from Savatage to Trans-Siberian Orchestra! | Yeah, I still listen to "Hall of the Mountain King" regularly. That was the tour I saw them on too at the Spectrum in Philly opening for Megadeth and Dio. What a show that was
Yeah really. I had to do a triple take when I saw that TSO was formed by Savatage.

I've had the "Power of the Night" CD in my car CD changer for almost 2 years now - great driving music.
And yes, it's hard to believe Savatage spawned TSO....

Really wish it could get a remix or remaster. Gutter Ballet and Edge of Thorns are my favorites of the theirs. I think the Dead Winter Dead record is where the beginnings of TSO were. |

Back then, I was stupid and would only listen to the stuff I knew and never bridged out more which I kick myself for doing sometimes. I agree, Hall was poorly recorded but man, there are some great songs on there so I can suffer through it
Back then was when I really saw Spector's being used all the time during shows I went to which was so cool. My first concert ever was Aerosmith and Dokken at the Spectrum and Jeff Pilson was using a blue NS-2 that just had me fixated. I remember because he used to throw it to his tech when he was changing basses and i couldn't believe that was being done. Amazing how there is still video from that show too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qcBOEK_hCE
I think I posted that before because I remember laughing at Chris Loe's comment of Don Dokken's awful dancing, LOL.

They were just so different from all of the other bands which is why I liked them so much. Yeah, Pilson is like Michael Anthony belting out those harmonies. Both of those guys were great with the lead singers when they harmonized with them.

After having a NS4 neck thru some years back, I always thought that my perfect spector would be a bolt-on...and I was totally right. Don't be put off by buying a Spector bolt-on, especially these awesome US made ones! | SWEET!
The Coral Reef Bass. This is a one-of-a-kind stain finish that Jimmy Eppard (who does the staining) and Cue (who does the clear-coats and paint jobs for Spector) experimented with.
That bass is so amazing looking.
That bass arrived here at my office the day after Christmas last year and stayed at my office until the NAMM Show.
It was to be a surprise at the show (because of the finish) so I didn't post any photos of it. But it did sneak into the New Years photo I did last year... it's the bass to the far left. See how I kept it out of focus? No one ever knew it was your bass.
Here are some of my studio photos of that bass.
And ironically when I was looking for a bass to Photoshop into the Easter Island photo with Omer, that Coral Reef bass jumped out at me. LOL. This was a week or two ago I did this.

Bass wise, New Bass Day! My Coda got here from Beaver at Bass Central, holy crap, could not be more impressed with it. More to follow later, I'm beat, have to get to bed, just wanted to post picture of the body and with its NS-2 brother.
I don't think I have ever had 2 basses I am more in love and impressed with, and 2 basses so different from each other that I am so happy with.
More later-best-Loe
