To be fair that was an USA bass that cost a lot more. Everything else is really nice with the Legend 5 though. I have a new set of strings that I'm going to put on soon with a .150 B string. I really hope this helps it out. Right now I have a set of Rotos witha .135 B.

Wondering how that bad larry might sound? Would the difference in the normal TW and the MMTW be enough to make a difference. I'm looking at one with the Aggie 3 band.

I remember reading someone saying a similar statement but they swapped the SSD pickups out with EMG DC's and it made a huge difference. I forget where I read it and it was only from one person but its just a thought.
I am thinking about picking up a Legend 5 in another month or two to use it as a tuned down bass so I plan on trying them out in the near future. Quote:

Yeah, if you search, you can find Rebops for some great prices. I picked up my 2002 Rebop 5 for dirt cheap from Guitar Center and it really is an amazing bass. | I don't think you'll be disappointed. Even with the stock electronics, I get a useable low B with both my legends.
After picking up the euro 4lx however, I'm seriously contemplating an electronics swap to get the sound a little bit closer. I'm thinking I'll go 35p and J with an aggie OBP-2 when I have the cash. But my next bass related purchase is gonna be a darkglass B3K. I hear so many good things on here and all of the demos sound sick.
Back on point to the legends tho-
Even if the sound isn't 100% what you want right off the bat, a little electronics swap should get you closer to what you want. Feel wise the legends are pretty comfortable. If you (or anyone really) have specific questions about the legends, feel free to ask!

I eventually switched out the pre also, but the DC's made an immediate difference.
Even the EMG-Hz's in my old Rebop 5 were much better sounding than the SSD's.

Both the Spectors are 35" and it sure does seem to make a difference. I play only 5s at the moment so I am really in tune with them

I even tried it on my Fender P5 and it was better than the .130 SuperSteel it had before. .150 is HUGE and will be rather thunky in sound, just due to the size.

I particularly enjoyed the Spector Care video #1 ... and am definitely looking forward to the rest. Very informative

| | The guy with the dumb username... | | Join Date: Feb 2008 Location: Massachusetts | | I've got a fretless 34" 5-string bass and a Spector NS20005 (5 string obv.) which is 35" scale. Even with a .135 B string on the 34" scale the tension and sound isn't as good as a .125 B string on the NS20005.
Neck-through plus 35" scale equals great B string in my experience!

You are the perfect, and I mean perfect candidate for a Mesa M9. If you love you GK tone just imagine.....well....more and better....with, uh more growl and snarl.
The Mesa M6/9's are super pissed off amps. Both will purr like kittens at 2 ohms.
