Also what could possibly be a dumb question- Is there a big difference tonewise between the Forte with the P/J setup vs the X's Soapbar EMG dcs? I'm digging the sounds that come out of my new X, but I'm wondering about the P/J configs tone as well. Anyone done a side by side comparison?? Thanks

Its pretty good. The HAZ is $350 if you wanna wait and the wait time is long currently, some friends orders 6 months agao and still have yet to recieve...........might be better to sell your bass and buy one with the 9 volt circuit......

If you haven't read the greatly augmented and updated company history, you might want to... I learned so much about Stuart when I was in Woodstock this past June & July.

http://www.spectorguitars.com/history/brooklyn.html

He specifically designed the NS-2 to sit in a particular place in the mix. He's got an amazing ear. Part of it is very natural to who he is. The other part is the work he put into training his ears to listen for certain things.

Yep read it, I was talking from a more technical standpoint though.

I liken it to sending your newborn child in for a painful surgery that may not cure what ills Would anybody recommend that procedure?
Congrats!.. I've never played the forteX but when I had a thunderbird I moved the strap button to behind the neck to help with neckdive.

The "x" series pups have a higher output. PJs will be a little more "tight" sounding, and the DCs naturally are a little more round in the low end. A lot of people prefer PJs (myself included), but they all sound great lol. Hope that helped a little

Not sure of the price new, but it really bugs me when the seller doesn't even bother to write a proper description, and simply cuts & pastes specs from - in this case - several of the wrong basses.
Theses are cool ones though. Like JPS' awesome "Blue Dream", I've always wanted a J/J Spector. I think it will be a while though - I need a USA NS-2 first....

I swapped out my DC's for the 35PJ set up. I didn't like the DC's. I'm so used to the PJ setup in my NS-2s. I love them. I did put the DC in the bridge with the P, but I'm not feeling that either. Gonna try the 18v in the Aggie & with the DCs next to see how that sounds.

When I bought my Rex5 Pro neck thru x-body bass the previous owner had installed a straplock button on the upper bout above the neck and removed the one from the back of the bass that was originally near where the neck met the body. I played it that way for a few months and one day just for giggles I installed a straplock back in the original position and strapped on my bass. All I can say is I'll never go back to the after market location again. The stock position (on the back of the bass near where the body meets the neck) is sooo much better, it completely eliminates neck dive and lets the bass hang very comfortably for me. I don't really notice much if any forward tilt with the strap pin in the stock position but I did notice a lot of neck dive with the strap pin on the side of the bass on the upper bout.
