Happy New Year everyone! | 2012 was a great year for me . I still have my health. I did not lead the most healthy life for fifteen years(Iggy Pop Keith Richards etc.) I am grateful that i'm clean and sober. I have a wonderful girlfriend that loves me and and likes listening to me play bass! She is in a war torn part of the world right now on assignment ,so the only thing on my mind is that she arrives home safe and sound! I love my Ns-2 so much and am grateful to have one again .I lost my first one when I was out running and gunning. Chris Loe and all of you guys will be in my prayers .Here's to a happy and healthy new year!

Does anyone know what year Spector switched from using Basswood for the Legend bodies to using Maple now for the bodies?
The Legend fretless I purchased was made in early 2011.
They have not shipped the bass yet. I want to make sure that it is a Maple body before they ship it on Jan 2nd. The seller is not sure if it is Basswood or Maple.

Got back into a regular band, gigging monthly.
Dabbled with many basses. Finally built a rig I like!
Bought my ReBop off eBay & couldn't be happier with the feel. The tone will need adjusting via new pickups & pre, though.
For 2013, I hope to do the swaps on my ReBop and try to save up for a Euro5, or maybe settle for a second ReBop & mod that one, too! This will involve selling my Fender P5, though. Oh well, I'm hooked on Spectors.

My legend 5 is a 2010 and it's all maple (its heavy, like the person above me mentioned). Sounds sexy like an all maple bass should!

1 - Mid-late 90s NS-2000/5 with $200 trade
2 - $900 cash, but he wants to wait until the new year to confirm
3 - A Warmoth Walnut Iceman 5 body with G&L Tribute neck that's been dressed, files & affixed with a walnut headstock veneer. Tribute bridge. Bart BP5 pickups & a Bart 3-band Pre-amp
If all goes well, I'll have $900 CAD in my hands in the next few days. I'll then turn around & drop that on a reasonable priced Euro5, if I can find one. Possibly another ReBop & some new pickups/preamp. ^_^
If not, $200 and an NS2000/5
Not really interested in the Iceman, although it does look neat! Never been a fan of Barts, or neck-divey basses.

| | | | 2012 was pretty good for me. I picked up 2 spectors (legend 6 and euro 4lx) and couldn't be more pleased with them! I traded off my modulus for the euro, so now 3 of my 4 electrics are Spectors (I'm going to have to do something about that... Haha). My family is doing well, I'm done with college applications, so yeah. Here's hoping that all of the good folks here in the club have an excellent 2013!

Most likely it is Maple then..The grain on the back through the trans paint has a tight grain like Maple.

I went through 6 Spectors to find "the one" for me....still have 3 of them(i might ad that I did not buy basses of any other brand in 2012)
I took time off from playing in regular bands to be with my family (they like this)
Ive lived another year in decent health.
I'm watching my 2 kids grow into wonderful human beings.
And my wife and I still love each other.....it's been good. I try not to look at the horrible events that occured for me and my family this past year. Living in the light takes less energy! :-)

| | Registered User Endorsing Artist: Spector Basses | | Join Date: Apr 2003 Location: Naperville, IL | | Well 2012 was the year of my Spector "explosion" - I picked up a new matte Euro 435 in February, a used NS-5XL in March, a Euro Webster in July and a gloss Euro 435 in September. And that's not counting the Forte 4 I briefly had. So yeah, went a little nuts this year. 2013 will be the year of US builds for me, plus the liquidation of two or likely three of my Euros to help pay for them. So no more classifieds purchases for me I swear!
Music-wise, the band's debut record is completed and mastered and will be released in March - finally. Looking forward to some regular gigging in support of it.
Personally, health could be better - a few nagging things but nothing nearly as serious as what some of our good friends here are facing.
Here's best wishes to everyone for 2013 - may the Spector gods (and pimp) show you the way to your next Spector! |
