I normally use UPS but the buyer has asked if I can ship it to another FedEx location to hold for him. Will this be a little cheaper? Also, with UPS if you insure over $1000 they inspect the package so I don't "tape her up" until after that. Does FedEx inspect packages with higher dollar insurance? Thanks fellers.

So I was changing strings on my Euro putting on some D'Addario ProSteels (.45 - .135) and the B string won't fit in the slot on the bridge (also, which gauge strings come stock on Euros?) What can I do about this? Should I get a new bridge? Odd that a regular gauge won't fit
Thanks guys!

Thanks guys! | I found anything over a .130 was tight. Do they make a tapered set?

Thanks guys! | I've heard that people crimp the end of the string with pliers to make it fit in the bridge slot. Doesn't negatively effect the string iirc.

Thanks guys! | That's a never ending saga it seems with the Euro bridges. Either buy tapered B string or stay with .125 or below.

Thanks guys! | You can try crimping the end like others have mentioned but getting a .135 in there might still be tough. The stock strings they put on are .45-.130 and it depends which brand they used at the time. If they used Spector strings, the B and E are tapered so they will fit no problem. Was the B tapered on the existing strings that came with the bass?
If you use one of the bridges with intonation screws, a .135 should be able to fit since they need to modify the bridge to get the screws in. I have had good luck using tapered strings so changing out the bridge shouldn't be necessary. Bass strings online sells a .135 tapered pro steel it looks like and I have also had good luck with Spector, Sadowsky, and Circle K strings as well.

Ive shipped both ways.........fedex did not inspect over 1k. Also I do not think you save shipping to a fedex location for hold. It might be a dollar or two difference like the difference between a residential and business address but probably insignificant. Hope that helps a tad......

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Dec 2006 Location: Cincinnati, OH | | | Happy New Year everyone! 2012 was good to me from a Spector perspective - I went from Zero Spectors in Jan of 2012 to Three Spectors by Dec of 2012. Couldn't be happier. I do have a lot of other basses and brands but I have to say the Spectors seem to be the best bang for the buck on any bass I've ever purchased in the $500 to $5000category.
I'll throw Squier out there as the best bang for the buck in the sub $500 category and Alembic as the best bang for the buck in the over $5000 category (no flame wars please, to each their own). Lucky for Spector nearly every bass I've purchased has been in the $500 to $5000 range, so it looks like Spector will continue to get nearly all of my business.
The folks at Spector have a great business model and price range to fit nearly any budget, one of the best customer service structures in the industry, some of the finest craftsmanship in existance and a fanatic cult following - I'm so glad I stumbled into the Spector world a year ago, full speed ahead, and Happy New Year! |

I thought I'd be ready to drop in a OBP 3 in Big Blue but ah ah, not so fast. I loved the OBP 3 that was in my Forte 5 but I'm going to drop another 9V into Big Blue and here that Spector growl that I heard in my former Forte 4.
Would you post a sound clip of your NS-2J? I'd love to hear that OBP 3! | I'd love to post a sound clip but I'm remodeling my basement and studio areas so unfortunately I don't have any way to record anything at this point. I've actually been lucky to keep a practice amp and a few basses in use during the remodeling so I can at least enjoy some of them. It will most likely be sometime this summer before I'm up and running with a full studio again. |

I got the EPS170-5 ProSteels set. The strings that came with the bass I guess are Spector strings. Factory fresh bass. Thanks
