Can you explain to me how you recorded yourself for YouTube though? I have an interface and know how to record my audio, but I don't know how to get the video to record with me wqhile I play a cover over a song...

The Spector actually isn't my first bass though. I have a 4string Warwick Corvette that was gracious enough to be a great starter bass for me. I AM, however, new to theory and technique, and I WILL be looking up the Bass Aerobics book you so kindly suggested.
I'll try to see about uploading a pic of them both on here in the near future.
Thanks again

As for how I record, I do it using iMovie and garageband. I set up a garage band movie file and put the song I'm covering in there. Then I open a real instrument track and set it up to record my bass through my audio interface (m audio fasttrack) and I add effects to get the tone I'm going for. (In this case, an amp sim and a compressor). Then I open up iMovie and set it to record with my laptop's webcam. Once it's recording I go back to garageband and hit record. This way my playing is synced with the song. When I'm done I save the movie file, cut out the unnecessary bits at the start and end, then quit iMovie. Then I save the garageband file, close it, and re-open it so that the movie I recorded appears in the media browser column. Then I load the movie in, sync it's audio with the garageband audio, then I mute the audio from the movie so all you hear is the garageband. Then I export it and upload it.
