I honestly was not a big fan of the jazz trio with piano until literally yesterday.

Flipping thru the tv channels last night and John Patitucci's name caught my eye. I know who he is but not real up on his DB work. The show was a recent Montreal Jazz Fest concert with Chick Corea. Holy crap, Patitucci can play. Corea is just deadly on piano as well. An hour well spent in any case and on the HD HiFi channel in pretty heavy rotation.

Yeah, Chick is a monster, and patitucci's certainly no slouch! Actually, he's a bassist whom I truly admire- he's incredible on electric and upright, and me being someone who is learning to play both, he really gives me something to aspire to.
If you dug that performance, id recommend Keith Jarret's trio, in addition to the Bill Evans trio as I mentioned before. Bill stands out to me in particular, because his playing is so beautiful and expressive. He really does what I want to be able to do musically- he used music as a medium to express himself, and to explore feeling and emotion. Check out him playing 'Waltz for Debby' and 'Emily'. Beautiful, beautiful stuff.

Apologies for the long-ish off topic post, I'm just a huge Bill Evans nerd

Why about Medeski Martin & Wood? More fusion-y maybe, but great players.

I used to listen to them quite a bit in the early 2000's now that I think about it. That is some good stuff too.... In my very uneducated opinion.

MMW is awesome too. Totally different from the usual trio vibe, but I really dig what they do. I love their work with John schofield as well. Good stuff for sure.

how does it compare to your Kramer?
The Kramer that I have with the original 9v is very close in comparison. They are both pretty unbeatable with their own personalities.

I have always wanted a white Spector, this has the normal yellowing, but the finish is 9 out of 10. Seems that the bridge held up better than the Kramers. No pitting like the two Kramer era's have. I read that they were a little different materials use between the two. I will do the full 2000 watt comparison in the morning.

I almost did, but the 35" scale scared me. I figured I wouldn't play it so I passed. Great deal, though.

I thought you were on it. I go back and forth sometimes between the two scales, I don't find it too hard.

I'll check out Bass NW! Yeah LimaGuy hit me up when I was looking for my Euro. It's much harder to find Spector in South Korea but Bass Central hooked me up.

Nice to see that one turn up here also.

I love the burl on that. How is the neck on that bass? I remember in the photos it looked extra chunky, which some of of us do like.
