Just Poplar Burl and Zebrawood. Is that new for 2013? If so, I'm glad I placed my order a few months ago for my Euro.

I'm really old skool and I like the look of the classic black walnut finish that is available for USA models. Due to being poor, I can't spend 5k on a bass. Could I order a Euro in black walnut? It's not on their available finishes. How flexible are they (the Euro factory) in that regard?
I'm thinking Euro LX, black walnut, satin poly.
similar to this but a euro | Clear - not sure if it's exactly what you're looking for but a few weeks ago I bought one of the USA bolt on Special Edition Series #1 basses in highly figured walnut over a walnut back. The price was very reasonable for a new USA Spector. The JJ configuration with the walnut body, OBP-3 preamp, bolt on neck and pf fretboard really is a fantastic combo. I couldn't be happier.
They are a limited number (total of 14 made) so can be very hard to find. I ran across 2 different ones for sale both at about the same price (about half what a typical neck thru USA sells for). Here's a pic of mine, the photo doesn't do the wood top justice but you can also check out the Spector site under Special Edition Models to see more pics. Good luck with your search. |

I still lack a lot but, I have added some new basses on the Brooklyn section as well as the Woodstock section. I also put the links to the ads and catalogs back too.
I really hope to redo the site with better resolution photos and just a total makeover this year. Thanks for all the e-mails and the support over the years.
I will also have some NAMM 2013 shots from the Spector booth up just after NAMM, which is Jan. 24th - 27th. |

I found a Rebop 5 for sale locally, that I´ve owned before. I sold it becouse it never got play time since i preferred my Euro 5.
This bass has EMG HZ and Tone pump 2-band pre. It´s a 2004.
I found the original electronics a bit numb.
Which preamps are "plug and play" for this bass for a more growly tone? I suspect some of you have tried this
Thanks in advance, I need a fiver quickly, i just need to know where to go with it if i do.

any combination of the above will give you plenty of growl IMHO |

Other companies (without the cache that EMG's name carries) want you to think that they developed a special pickup just for your 5- or 6-string, vs. the "regular" 4-string PUPs they have been selling for 40+ years.
EMG is like Porsche; you see the pickup housing (smooth, black) and the little logo in the lower right corner, and you know right away what you have. The package is their greatest selling (and marketing) tool.
When I see pickups with pole pieces, I have no idea what brand they are, cuz there are at least a dozen companies that make those.
I like EMGs approach: pragmatic, sleek, understated, but intimidating! | My new Seymour Duncan pickups have the same look. sleek, black, logo/brandname in the corner. Love the look, it's gonna look sweet when I finally stick 'em in!

Thanks in advance, I need a fiver quickly, i just need to know where to go with it if i do. | Define Plug & Play...Cuz there's going to be soldering involved with that. If it's stock, it will have a non-trim TP, like my 2006.
I'm probably going to install a BTS or BQC in mine, soon.

I cleaned it off and once I played, I noticed the strings were dead. Ol boy that played my bass was eating right before hand. So im guessing he didnt wash his hands too well and whatever sweat and other crap was on them, got on the strings and mellowed them out badly.
